Still travelling and of course heading 'south' with about 6 weeks to go before being home.
Family living in our house whilst we are gone is a blessing, knowing someone is taking care of it.
We are currently in a place called Mackay in Queensland, just down the road from Ayr and then heading to Rockhampton where they have 'great steaks'.
The winter weather is being kind to us at 23 (73.4 F) - 28 deg C (82.4 F) during the day and of course cooler overnight 18 deg C (64.4 F) approximately.
A pretty area by the Marina and a lighthouse plus a few restaurants and the boat ramp.
Photo taken with my phone.
Really beautiful!
ReplyDelete'Tis lovely there Linda if not windy!
DeleteLighthouses have a magic and a romance to them don't they?
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this one.
Yes they sure do especially older and lived in lighthouses....must have been a lonely existence and only suited to some.
DeleteYou are welcome.
My brother, mother, grandmother and me lived in Slade Point back in the late Forties for a couple years before moving to Gympie the town where Nana was born and grew up; and where our mother was born. In the mid-Sixties my brother went to live there. Mum and Nana soon followed once he started his family; and they lived back in Slade Point, again.
ReplyDeleteBefore I moved back to Gympie after being in various areas throughout North Qld, I managed a motel for a while on Nebo Road, Mackay! One of the two worst jobs I've ever had...because of those who owned the respective properties!! Long story...
One of my nephews and his family live at Armstrong Beach, east of Sarina; and two very good friends of mine retired to live on the beachfront at Grasstree after the male of the couple had worked at 4MK and was manager of Ch. 10 up there for some time.
I hope you can find some time while you're there to do a trip up to Eungella. Mackay was my centre of provisions when I was running Newry Island - via Seaforth. (Nothing is left on Newry Island now, except memeories)(.
Oh gosh, what a history you have with the eastern shoreline of Queensland, interesting.
DeleteWe went to Slade Point up on the hill looking at whales way out to see, but could see them.
Saw the sign to Eungella but didn't go there, we did around many roads in the Mackay area.
Boy! I wrote a short story, didn't I? :)
ReplyDeleteNearly, but interesting and more so because we have just been driving and through some of those areas.
DeleteThe lighthouse is lovely travel safely
ReplyDeleteThanks Gosia.
DeleteHi, Such a gorgeous photo. Wishing you continued safe travel and delightful days ahead. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Mildred..xx
DeleteI always wanted to live in a lighthouse when I was a kid to late now to many stairs. My mum was born and lived her early life in Gympie not far from where you are.
ReplyDeleteBet you the weather is wonderful up there now.
Merle..........
Get giddy in those tall lighthouses climbing up the stairs.
DeleteThat's interesting your mum and Gympie..
Weather has been fairly good, today is windy..

ReplyDeleteWindy today but that's ok it's warm.

It's close to 20 years since I was last in Mackay! Thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteMe too re: Mackay - 20 plus years.
DeleteI was not really overly impressed with the city, but that is quite
another story.
Good to know that the weather "gods" have looked favourably on your
northern odyssey.
Cheers
Colin
You are welcome M..
DeleteColin...Mackay is easy to find your way around and it's not too spread out with the shopping.
What a pretty sky and lighthouse. The weather sounds perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Glad you are enjoy your trip and no worries about an empty house at home.
ReplyDeleteLots of sitting outside in the shade up this way in winter for us.
DeleteLucky to have family in our house, they are reliable so that's good too.
Siempre me han vustado los faros y este es precioso. Yo también he regresado de mis vacaciones de verano y me he encontrado en mi ciudad con una ola de calor con temperaturas máximas de más de 40 grados C.
ReplyDeleteBesos

DeleteNice photo and it is nice when we have someone we can trust house sit for us and not someone who would invite a stranger into your home against your wishes, speaking of my daughter Natasha here since that is what she did
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne.
DeleteOh gosh, that wasn't good then..
Probably the smallest I've seen, it's cute
ReplyDeleteIt is a cutie and there is a lighthouse near home that is about the same size as that one in the photo.
