Who would have even thought that one would fined Dinosaur Footprints in Broome!
The photo is a Cast of those footprints which one can see at a very low tide at Gantheaume Point.
Footprints are estimated to be 115 to 120 million years old. They extend in patches for about 80km along the coast.
Margaret it is an amazing footprints of dinosaurs
ReplyDeleteSure is Gosia.
Deleteoh cool
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to find.
DeleteSometimes it is hard to believe that dinosaurs existed, but there is so much evidence that has been left behind. Near to us the remains and tusks of a Woolly Mammoth were found a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteOh that's interesting Rosemary. Always finding new things from the past...so we continue to learn.
DeleteWhat strange feet. I wonder what aborigines thought of them.
ReplyDeleteFootprints are very old Andrew as in billions of years as stated.... I don't know who lived in that area at that time. Aboriginals have lived in Australia according to research from 60,000 to 40,000 years ago..
DeleteWow. And those footprints are a clear indication of the first birds...
ReplyDeleteYes, the first as we know unless something else is discovered in the future.
Deleteamazing they stayed like that for so long
ReplyDeleteYes it is Adam. Many other creatures changed a little..
DeleteFirst look the photo appeared to be an aerial photo of the terrain.
ReplyDeleteOr something from another planet.
Incredible to really understand or appreciate how those prints survived in a tidal region.
Maybe way back then, there was an ice freeze of the planet???
Just just snap frozen in a time warp.
Cheers
Colin
Drizzle rain seems to have set in here - the lawns and gardens need a bit of moisture.
Goodness knows what happened those billion of years ago...maybe we will never know.
DeleteThat must be very hard rock.
ReplyDeleteMerle...........
On the sea bed it must be very hard to still be there.
DeleteAmazing
ReplyDeleteReally is.
DeleteI'd heard there were dinosaur footprints somewhere, but didn't know exactly where.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky are you to see them in person while we can only see them online.
Now you know as I do too.
DeleteYes, I consider myself lucky to see them :)
Its spooky how they still exist today.
ReplyDeleteIt is. Goodness knows what else might turn up.
DeleteReally? Wow! I've heard there are some significant sites up north for archeologists, but I didn't realise the public would be able to see things so clearly.
ReplyDeleteAmazing isn't...who would have thought that we could see those prints in the sea and the Cast of...we have been to places where the Dinosaurs have been up north in the past...
DeleteWow !!! It's amazing to see dinosaur footprints !!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your photos !!!
Greetings
You are welcome
DeleteThey must have been the long-ago ancestors of something like ducks. Ducks with toenails maybe! A wonder to see something from such a long, long time ago and imagine the animal that made them.
ReplyDeleteThey could have been flying ones. It's truly amazing really.
