A few years ago we visited Tambo is a great little outback town. With only about 340 to 500 locals and a pub or two , Tambo makes a great little stopover on the drive from Charleville to Longreach. Located around 1000km north west of Brisbane on the Landsborough Highway.
Originally established in the 1860's, to service local pastoral properties, today Tambo boasts a healthy economy supported by wool and beef.
The average temperature in July is 21.2C or 70.2F. Winter time.
Summer time the average temperature is 34.9C or 94.8F.
We have travelled to Tambo a few times in the past.
The Road to Tambo.
Farm land on the way to Tambo.
A Hotel and the Butcher's Shop.
The Library.
The Visitors Centre.
Tambo is prone to droughts, floods and fires.
Tombo looks like a lovely place to visit!
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely, we stopped there and had a look around, the road is really very wide.
DeleteGreat first picture, the endless road.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
You are correct on that, it's an endless road and there a many of those in Australia, particularly in the outback.
DeleteEnjoy your oven. One day I will visit you so you will prepare me a delicious pizza. Tambo is a nice town but too hot for me as a European girl.
ReplyDeleteThanks I will Gosia. Yes, I will cook you a pizza in my oven. Yes, the temperature is hot there in summer, but for me it's nice.
Deletecool little library
ReplyDeleteIt's cute.
DeleteI know you are glad the kitchen work is completed.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing photos from your visit.
Oh yes I am pleased it's finished plus I am happy with it.
DeleteThank you for your lovely comment on my blog... so glad for you that your kitchen is finished, mine took ages and there was dust everywhere.. but now I love it
ReplyDeleteChris
You are welcome Chris. Oh, don't mention the 'dust' :)
DeleteYour kitchen seems to have been completed quickly although it has probably seemed to take forever for you.
ReplyDeleteIs that heat simmering on the road in the first photo?
It seems a long time Rosemary.
DeleteYes, that's heat off the road...
We are sleeping in the spare room too as we have a painter in doing the other end of the house. Tambo is a cute little town. It has a famous Teddy Bear Shoppe and they had one of their bears was given to prince George when he was here. Great shots of the road and buildings.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike Diane :)
DeleteYes, I do recall that little Teddy Shop but I didn't know about Prince George etc.
I hope you are enjoying your new kitchen and maybe even, by now, the new bathroom. Tambo looks just like what I think about when I think about the Outback. Most of my images come from the book and movie, A Town Like Alice, which I have read and seen probably a dozen times or more.
ReplyDeleteOh Cynthia, that is a lovely book & film. Have been to Alice a few times :)
