Darwin, NT

Darwin in the Northern Territory tropical climate.  It's Aboriginal name: Garramilla is the capital and largest city of Australia's Northern Territory, located on the shores of Darwin Harbour.

We have been there several times and stayed in our caravan at one of the many caravan parks.  It's a lovely city with about 140,000 people probably a few more now.

Darwin has a higher percentage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people than any other Australian capital city, though they still make up a minority of the overall urban population.

Some fishing vessels.

A mural at Darwin Port.

Navy ships overlooking Beagle Gulf and to the left the Timor Sea.

A cyclone shelter.  In 1974 on Christmas Day, Darwin was hit with Cyclone Tracy which left a lot of Darwin's building flat.  Devastating it was.  Killed 71 people and destroyed 80% of Darwins building. It left up to 41,000 people homeless.

Frangipani grows well there in Darwin and two colours I managed to find and photograph.
