Breakfast

I love Manuka Honey which is indigenous to New Zealand and parts of Coastal Australia.
Manuka honey is special due to its potent, stable, and unique antibacterial properties. The honey has ability to fight against antibiotic-resistant superbugs which makes it prized medicinal powerhouse for topical wound healing, soothing sore throats, and supporting gut health.
I eat it on one slice of toast for breakfast every morning.

Daylight saving begins on Sunday 5, 2025 in a few States in Australia.

Vegemite is spread lightly on toast with a lot of butter, it's rather tasty but the key to eating it is not to spread it thick.  I recall many a mum including myself giving it to very little children on the crust of bread for them to chew on.
You can say not for me, or yuk - I won't be offended.

Quiche for dinner or lunch.

Open sandwich on different days/weeks, salad and chicken on a bread roll with tea or water to drink.

  1. I would try that honey. Recently got eucalyptus honey from Australia. Very nice. Good in bakes.

    1. That is good then. I'm not a great lover of honey but have taken to Manuka Honey rather well. Used to buy it in a bigger size from a beekeeper here in Tasmania but he's at the other end of the island as in the northwest coast.
      Never had eucalyptus honey.

  2. I have never bought Manuka honey. A friend of mine swears by it. She says it is an expensive honey depending also on the grade.
As for Vegemite, I am very curious about it. From what I have read, non-Australians don't find it appealing. : ) But I would like to try it.
Looking forward to more posts about food. : ))

    1. I can do more post about food, Catarina. I've been taking photos over winter of what we eat for dinner mostly.
Manuka honey is expensive, and I used to buy it in a bigger container from a beekeeper along the northwest coast but a long way to go just for honey.
Vegemite, you either like it or you don't.

  3. Dear Margaret, I love ❤️ pure honey. Vegemite doesn't appeal to me, but I am not a fan of condiments. I don't like mustard, relish, etc.
I love ❤️ quiche and salad. Thank you 😊 so much for sharing, dear friend.

    1. I don't like relish at all but a little in cooking is ok as long as it's not too much.
      You are welcome, Linda.

  4. Vegemite was important for Vitamin B when it was taken to school for lunch. My sandwich had Vegemite and a slice of cheddar cheese.

  6. The only reason that I don't honey, It's because I think of it as bee vomit. My daughter loves honey though. And I got her a honeycomb as one of her birthday presents last year, and she loved it.

  7. Dear Margaret,
The honey sounds very nice. I like honey very much. I have a neighbour who produces honey. His bees have been many times in my garden. Take care.

  8. I haven't tried Vegemite but I know where I can get it. It's a bit of a drive but next time I am out there I will buy some and follow your advice. The other thing I have been wanting to get for a while is Manuka Honey. I have heard only good things about it and reading your recommendation has spurred me on. Thank you for sharing your meals Margaret, they look delicious and have given me good ideas for our own.

    1. Thanks Denise. Remember the golden rule, only a small or tiny spreading of Vegemite and also a touch of vegemite in soup is ok too.

    1. I love my breakfast Marco, and have had same for years. I've taken vegemite and honey all over Australia with me when we travelled, but at some of the boarders you couldn't take honey across so had to hand in then buy more in the same bottle - sounds a bit odd but that's the law.

  12. Manuka honey has a stellar reputation and I would like to try it, but Vegemite is Australia’s insult to the world!

    1. I guess you can purchase Manika honey over your way, David. I love mine but I know I use too much butter, oh well it's the only butter I probably eat all day.
You made me laugh re vegemite...lol

  15. There were some doubts about how authentic some manuka honey really is. I don't eat a lot of honey, and so I can justify the high cost of Beechworth Honey, from northern Victoria.
Vegemite works much better with proper butter, in my opinion.
A salad sandwich for lunch is my usual.

    1. Haven't heard of Beechworth Honey, will look it up, Andrew.
Yes, good proper butter is always best, I use proper butter from a block and I used to make my own once.
I have a small bread roll with salad on top in the photos and I have to use a knife and fork to eat it and no butter!

    2. Beechworth is my go-to for honey, I like their "Bee Cause" varieties too and proceeds from their sales go to supporting bee farms.

  16. I have both. YUMMY for my tummy!!
They are with peanut butter essentials as far as I am concerned.
Lovely day here and school holidays and those damn "electric" bikes
have to be banned or a speed limit attached.
Some young boys are using pedestrians targets!
    And the girls are worse!!!!
And off to view the those who like the cold surf and sit in the sun
then the PUB !!! ha ha.
    Cheers

    1. Good on you, Colin - a good healthy Australian breakfast. Not fond of peanut butter, have to be in the mood for it. I'm like that and if I was, I would eat it every day maybe or once a week, then all of a sudden, I would stop eating it.
Those electric bikes sure can get the speed up, can be dangerous too.
It's often said girls can be worse than boys.
      Enjoy your day then.

    3. Peanut butter with celery sticks???????
      Never heard of that.
I love celery sticks but here in Terrigal they cost a fortune!!!
Another lovely sunny day here - the beach will be crowded.
Yesterday the surf was as flat as a table cloth!
      Not happy surfers!!!!
      Cheers

I never use honey, nor sugar.
I always have fruit for breakfast and skyr or yogurt for lunch.

I must say you chose wisely to eat every morning 🥰
The food images are so tempting 👌♥️👍
I see bread is permanent part of your breakfast like here ,though hubby and me have to switch to oatmeal with dry nuts to keep sugar maintained in blood.
    Hugs and love
