Blooming time. I just love these Sturt Desert Peas the native flower that grows wild in Western Australia and (few other place) where I took the photos a few years back. They grow low on the ground somewhat like a runner, they certainly make the ground pretty.
Unusual flowers. But very pretty.
ReplyDeleteMost unusual, but as you say pretty.
DeleteHow right you are Margaret - what are a stunning little plant they are.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed Rosemary and it's wonderful when travelling and all of a sudden you see a sea of red on the ground of flowers...just beautiful where nothing else grows much.
DeleteThe plant is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree Bill
DeleteNo conocía esas flores tan vistosas. Su color rojo la hace resaltar mucho en el campo.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
That is for sure, it's good to see growing on the ground.
DeleteThey are so BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteI agree Angie.
DeleteThe floral emblem of WA is the kangaroo paw but the desert pea is more dramatic.
ReplyDeleteYes Hels, have also grown the kangaroo paw here at home in the right area, not now but did once.
DeleteThank you for sharing these Margaret. I have never seen anything like them, not even in photos. I like their leaves also.
ReplyDeleteThe leaves are a beautiful colour, the flowers are vibrant and grow low on the ground, I had to get on my knees to take the photos, but couldn't get down now, well I could but would have trouble getting up..lol
DeleteThey are truly lovely. I wish I could grow them.
ReplyDeleteBe nice if we would grow them, probably in a really sheltered area for our winter, maybe they might grow.
Deletewow what a beaty. love from Europe
ReplyDeleteYes Gosia they sure are.
DeleteWhat an amazing plant that is!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is Susan, something that grows in an area where many things won't.
DeleteLook good enough to eat!
ReplyDeleteThey do look like that John :)
DeleteSturt Desert Peas are certainly pretty. Got peanut shapes to them.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that way the shape, some are black and some are paler.
DeleteIt is pretty not something I have ever seen
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely to see in reality Jo-Anne, after driving for ages and not seeing hardly a tree it was wonderful to come across these, such a brilliant colour.
DeleteMargaret, I read that this flower is the emblem of South Australia and it is illegal to harvest them.
ReplyDeleteYes Norma, I do believe that is correct.
DeleteEs preciosa, me encanta. Besos.
ReplyDeleteI thought you would love it Teresa.
DeleteGracias Margaret.
DeleteThey are so pretty and I guess they wouldn't grow well, if it all, in our climate.
ReplyDeleteMight grow in the right area Andrew, sheltered in the winter and hot and humid in the summer...probably someone with real green fingers and that's not me.
DeleteWhere I live in Terrigal. these flowers grow prominently.
ReplyDeleteThe Seniors centre across the road has them in their gardens.
They sure are pretty.
Colin
Well that is wonderful Colin, good to read that for they are indeed very pretty.

ReplyDeleteUnique Bill.

ReplyDeleteThat is true Duta.
DeleteThey are very lovely - and god had nothing to do with it.
ReplyDeleteYes they are indeed David, but God know doubt made them in the first place :)
DeleteSuch beautiful and original flowers, I had never seen them before.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely Maria.
DeleteFiori stranissimi ma molto belli da vedere, ciao Margharet un abbraccio Angelo.
ReplyDeleteDifferent flower from what we are used to seeing in our gardens or other peoples gardens Angelo.
DeleteHello Margaret
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, those wild, roadside and growing wild, sometimes captivate more with their piken, because they grow almost everywhere we walk. The ones you present here are rather not with me, the more I watch them with curiosity.
All the best :)
These are interesting flowers and so pretty when you come across them in the bush...Take care.
DeleteBeautiful Flowers

Yes they are beauties.
DeleteBeing a proud South Aussie, it was always a thrill to go on trips to Flinders Ranges and see them in the wild. There's no other flower quite like them (tentativelytasmanian.blog)
ReplyDeleteAlways wonderful to come across them in various areas of Australia, so colourful too after looking at red dust in some areas.
DeleteLovely flowers🌸🌺🌻🌹🌷🌼💐
ReplyDeleteThank you.
