The Batman Bridge built in 1966 - 1968 was the first cable stayed bridge in Australia. It was named after John Batman, a Tasmanian pioneer and the founder of the city of Melbourne.
We crossed the Batman Bridge to go west then down South to Launceston along by the Tamar River to home.
Blackwall is the name of the place where the remainder of the photos were taken.
The second photo was a reflection of the sun setting.
The image of the sunset is very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSaludos desde Argentina

Thanks.
DeleteEs un gran puente y de gran modernidad.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta las tonalidades de la segunda fotografía. La has tomado en el momento perfecto para obtener las mejores luces, que siempre todos los que fotografíamos, quisiéramos tener.

DeleteYour posts and your photos are an EXCELLENT advertisement for the beauty of your State.
ReplyDeleteThanks EC.
DeleteStay safe.
the bridge looks interesting
ReplyDeleteIt is Gosia and a blessing when it was built made it easier to get to the other side.
DeleteI love the reflections in the second to last photo.
ReplyDeleteThey are good reflections, of all the times I've been up that way I've never captured such reflections as I did that day.
DeleteAll are fabulous but your second one here is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
DeleteLovely photos of a lovely area...thanks for sharing, Margaret. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Lee.
DeleteThe solitary, bare tree against the sunset, is a charming capture!
ReplyDeleteThanks Duta.
DeleteNever heard of the Batman bridge but it looks cool
ReplyDeleteGuess you haven't living where you do.
DeleteIt must have been a long way around before the bridge was built, or maybe there was an earlier one. Blackwall looks pleasant.
ReplyDeleteA nice area is Blackwall, there used to be a jetty there that has been taken down, long time ago but I was lucky to get a photo of it when it was standing.
DeleteYou had to go up the eastern side of the Tamar River and back to Launceston then if you wanted to go up the western side you went up and back to Launceston again, now you can go across the bridge to either side, so much better.
You took some really stunning photos, Margaret.I love every single one. New header looks so lovely too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angie, was just luck that day when I took the photos.
DeleteTruly, these are some of the best of your work that I've seen-- especially the second with it's overall balance and colors.

DeleteМаргарет, спасибо за прекрасное путешествие!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteI wonder if, like me, may immediately thought of the comic book character upon reading "Batman Bridge."
ReplyDeleteI didn't :) He was a bit of a character John Batman, a highway man.
