North of Hillwood

A little regarding the Tamar River here in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
The Tamar River is a 70 kilometer estuary located in northern area of the Island Tasmania.  Despite being called a river, the waterway is a brackish and tidal estuary over it's entire length.
Some photos taken near Hillwood and north of with my Canon DSLR camera.
The first photo is the bridge which we drove over on the other side, the Western side.
Last photo you can see the Batman Bridge which we drove over after going to George Town on the Eastern side.

    1. The rocks are there like that so people know not to drive their cars along that path as it's not safe to do so.

  8. What kinds of animals do you have around there? One of photos looks like a hippo's ears, but can't be. You'd be running! 😂

  10. Yet another amazingly beautiful area. Thank you. I do wonder whether bull sharks cruise that estuary though.

    1. Gummy Sharks, Stringray and seven gill sharks apparently, it's an estuary for so I've read EC. I know seals have been found up the Gorge which is just 3 klm from the city.

  14. Thanks for the river clarification. While I did know it is tidal, I never thought of it as an estuary and of course it is. While I've experienced it, I think your readers would be rather impressed by some close up photos of Batman Bridge.

    1. Of course it is David, see people with their binoculars sometimes when travelling down the river so presume they are seeking birds.

  20. It's great to be traveling along, Margaret, especially since we are doing very little long-distance travel. It also looks like having great weather most days. really liked the water reflections in photos 2 and 6.
