Snow on the Island

Tasmania is having a cold snap at moment.  Found some photos of snow taken in the last 24 hours by people, so I have borrowed them.

It doesn't snow where I live and it's wonderful to see snow as I've only been in it a handful of times in my life.

Snow on the island falls on the mountains and up in the highlands but it doesn't stay for long, a few days then it's all gone till the next cold snap.


A lady went for a walk up Mt. Wellington which Hobart is at the foot of.  These are two of her photo.


Then there is Cradle Mountain in the North West of Tasmania which many visitors come to see, the photo below is of the road on the way.


The road to Hartz Mountain which is 84 klm south west of Hobart.

    We visited Mount Wellington, and it was cool when we were there, but certainly not snowing.

      Lovely view from up there on a clear day. Always, well usually windy too that makes it cooler.

    No doubt. Those are beautiful pictures. But I don't want to think about snow now. We had plenty last winter. I want to focus on spring even if it is a grey and probably a rainy day today.

      Oh I can relate to that a bit. All my spring bulbs have come above the ground so that's promising for spring, but I'll be away and miss them in bloom again in our spring.

    Very pretty. It must be good to have Mount Wellington so close and easy to get to for snow fun and snap taking.

      The road you drive up is often closed if there is snow, but the lady walked part way up apparently. It is handy for those that haven't seen snow, they haven't got far to go..

    How truly lovely.
    We too are having a cold snap, and I noticed snow on the hills when I went out this morning. Only a dusting though, not as heavy as it is the photos you shared.

      We have Mt. Barrow not that far from us but no snow on it as yet. Ben Lomond a bit further away has a dusting which is all I can see from the family room window.
      Makes the air cold yet crisp when there is snow about, but the sun is beautiful.

      You are by the sea :) and in a warmer climate than Tasmania.
      You would have had fun in the snow I presume.

    Where I grew up the situation was similar. Snow was not common and when it happened-- everything else could wait!

    The photos look a bit like a nearby meringue factory exploded with the way the snow is hanging off the trees. They're all beautiful to look at, but I'm glad it doesn't snow here. Adelaide gets cold enough for me.

    From what I have heard from interstate travellers they are thrilled to be up in the snow.
