Devil's Gate Dam, Tasmania

On one of our day trips recently we decided to visit the Devil's Gate Dam, the gate was closed, the Devil wouldn't let us in!  A good thing in one way :) I wasn't ready to go there.

The Dams arch wall is one of the thinnest in the world. It holds water in Lake Barrington which is used for the power station.  The wall was completed in 1969 and is 84m (275ft) high.

This photo I borrowed and it's used extensively on the internet.

We went up on a hill and managed to get a photo from there, though it doesn't show the dam well.

A scene I took up on the hill.

Pasties Tasmanian Style.

Australian Pasties are not Cornish ones, though similar.

In many States and Territories within Australia they can’t be bought because no one cooks them.  They the pasties are made of pasty for the outer and inside is diced potato, grated carrot, and a few peas, plus minced beef or finely chopped beef along with spices. Usually tomato sauce is plastered all over as people do for pies, but not me, as I don't like or eat tomato sauces.
The ones I buy here in Tasmania are delicious, not greasy.  We don’t often have one for lunch but once in a while it’s nice.  When we travel, you always want one :)
