The Tree!

Next door neighbour had this tree in the backyard which was dying and was swaying about in the wind back in November.  Maybe it could land in our backyard or over the back fence and damage the mans garage.  Anyway it was cut down.  These photos were taken from my back door.

Then cut level with the ground or near enough, I looked over the fence.

  1. It was clear that the tree needed to be cut down. I'm sure it was better afterwards once the rest of the tree was removed.

Yes, the tree had it's day, need to be cut down for safety reasons.

  6. Better to cut it down safely, then it come down in a storm

    1. That's very true Jo-Anne, so much safer. We see so many trees that have caused a lot of harm in storms.

  7. That must have been a relief, given how unstable it looked in the wind, cutting the tree down was clearly the safest outcome for everyone nearby

    1. We were all pleased to have it cut down, it was only a matter of time before a branch fell and broke something.

  8. It was not an attractive tree and good that it has gone.

    1. Definitely not attractive at all. It grew too quickly, never watered either, the roots couldn't spread in the ground, should never have been planted there, need to be planted far from any building.

    1. No, no other tree was planted, some people don't have any idea what to plant in their backyard. The people who live there are Foster Parents, have only 3 children so a trampoline has been put over the tree stump which is level with the ground.

  12. How much ever one might love trees, sometimes they can pose a danger, and the chopping it was the right thing.

    1. Yes the right thing to do as the neighbour's didn't want anyone of anything being hurt or damaged.

  13. I see it's a variety of gum tree all of which are notorious for dropping branches randomly (on parked cars) and falling over especially after a big dry when they haven't had enough water, or a big wet when they've had too much water. Anyway, they should never be planted in home gardens unless you have 5 acres and plant them far enough away from buildings.

    1. Oh yes, you never spoke truer words, River. The previous neighbour planted the tree, she unfortunately had no idea where of how to plant trees,

That's terrible when that tree was falling.

  16. It amazes me how they seem to know which branches are solid enough to hold their weight! Not a job I have any desire to do!

    1. It is amazing how they know which is the strongest branch to climb on, I wouldn't like to do it either. It's a shame the tree had to go, but it wasn't just safe unfortunately.

  22. It must have been quite worrying seeing it sway like that.
Sometimes cutting a tree is sad, but safety has to come first.
Such a relief knowing it’s now safe for everyone nearby.
