Next door neighbour had this tree in the backyard which was dying and was swaying about in the wind back in November. Maybe it could land in our backyard or over the back fence and damage the mans garage. Anyway it was cut down. These photos were taken from my back door.
Then cut level with the ground or near enough, I looked over the fence.

Amazing! The arborist did a good job. : )
ReplyDeleteHe sure did with no mishaps.
DeleteIt was clear that the tree needed to be cut down. I'm sure it was better afterwards once the rest of the tree was removed.
ReplyDeleteAll is good, cut off at the ground so much safer.
DeleteDear Margaret, thank you for sharing these photos. The arborist did a wonderful job 👏
ReplyDeleteHe sure did Linda.
You are welcome, Angelo - it's a hard time of the year for you :)
DeleteYes, the tree had it's day, need to be cut down for safety reasons.
The guy was pretty good with his job!
ReplyDeleteHe cut it down in now time at all, Angie. There one minute, gone the next.
DeleteLooks like they did a great job.
ReplyDeleteHe sure did, all is safe and well with it now.
DeleteGreat Job!
ReplyDeleteYes Anne, he did a great job.
DeleteI could never do that job, too high up. But looks like he did a good job.
ReplyDeleteWell I used to climb trees when younger, but of course not these days at all.
DeleteBetter to cut it down safely, then it come down in a storm
ReplyDeleteThat's very true Jo-Anne, so much safer. We see so many trees that have caused a lot of harm in storms.
DeleteThat must have been a relief, given how unstable it looked in the wind, cutting the tree down was clearly the safest outcome for everyone nearby
ReplyDeleteWe were all pleased to have it cut down, it was only a matter of time before a branch fell and broke something.
DeleteIt was not an attractive tree and good that it has gone.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not attractive at all. It grew too quickly, never watered either, the roots couldn't spread in the ground, should never have been planted there, need to be planted far from any building.
DeleteUy yo tambien tuve que cortar un arbol y casi del mismo modo. Es duro pero no queda de otra . Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOh did you. Trees are beautiful things but in the right place.
DeleteWas another tree, bush or plant grown there after?
ReplyDeleteNo, no other tree was planted, some people don't have any idea what to plant in their backyard. The people who live there are Foster Parents, have only 3 children so a trampoline has been put over the tree stump which is level with the ground.
DeleteSo much better to cut it down safely, then have it come down in a storm.
ReplyDeleteGreat series of photographs.
All the best Jan
That is very true Jan.
DeleteThank you.
How much ever one might love trees, sometimes they can pose a danger, and the chopping it was the right thing.
ReplyDelete(My latest post: Reflections on 2025)
Yes the right thing to do as the neighbour's didn't want anyone of anything being hurt or damaged.
DeleteI see it's a variety of gum tree all of which are notorious for dropping branches randomly (on parked cars) and falling over especially after a big dry when they haven't had enough water, or a big wet when they've had too much water. Anyway, they should never be planted in home gardens unless you have 5 acres and plant them far enough away from buildings.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you never spoke truer words, River. The previous neighbour planted the tree, she unfortunately had no idea where of how to plant trees,
DeleteIt's better to cut down a tree in time than to have it fall during a storm.
ReplyDeleteGood job, the tree arborist.
Have a nice weekend.
Best regards Irma
You are right in what you say, Irma.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible when that tree was falling.
But now he is gone and that is good news. Nice report of pictures.
Many greetings,
Marco
Thank you, Marco. We are pleased that the tree is gone and all is safe now.
DeleteIt amazes me how they seem to know which branches are solid enough to hold their weight! Not a job I have any desire to do!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how they know which is the strongest branch to climb on, I wouldn't like to do it either. It's a shame the tree had to go, but it wasn't just safe unfortunately.
DeleteMerry Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful, stress-free day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melody. Yes we had a great day with all the family here at home. I hope you did have a good one too.
DeleteWow! That was a job. I still can't read on line while my eye is healing. I hope you had a nice Christmas and wishing you and your family the best 2026
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope you had a good Christmas with your family.
DeleteUnderstand re your eye, look after it as I'm sure you are.
Take care.
You wouldn't want the tree to blow into your house or somewhere else...it's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
hugs
Donna
Mi sembra proprio che sia stato fatto un buon lavoro
ReplyDeleteBuena serie. El hombre es un perfecto equilibrista, desde luego.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been quite worrying seeing it sway like that.
ReplyDeleteSometimes cutting a tree is sad, but safety has to come first.
Such a relief knowing it’s now safe for everyone nearby.
Your garden is happy.
ReplyDeleteSon tiempos de poda, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo y que tengas una buena entrada de 2026.
Sad to see that tree cut. Have a nice day!
