A few Signs coming through Mowbray a suburb of Launceston on the northern side. Continuing with signs near home the southern side. All of these photos of signs were taken with my phone and whilst moving.
This building is something to do with some kind of Care for Children, can't recall exactly.
We only have two Hungry Jacks in Launceston. KFC we only have two as well.
These signs are on a shop or in - the above is in Rivers a clothing shop. All these signs are not far from home.
McDonald's is known as Maccas here in Australia.
BWS is a liquor store, Beer, Wine and Spirits and is owned by the Endeavour Group. In 2019, Woothworths the supermarket people here in Australia, (nothing to do with USA or UK) restructured it's alcoholic drinks business to form Endeavour Group. In June 2021, the Endeavour Group was listed as separate entity on the Australian Securities Exchange. In Australia alcohol is not permitted to be sold at the supermarkets, any of them.
Up the top of the hill to the left is home.
This is a different type of post than usual and very interesting. I really enjoyed it. Haven't gone to Maccas in ages. Haven't gone to a KFC in decades. Today is the day. Will buy a KFC dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteYes it is different and thought it would be interesting to do for a change Catarina. I'm pleased you enjoyed the post.
DeleteLovely place.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne.
DeleteThanks for the tour. Interesting to see Maccas is open 24 hours. Haven't been to one of those in decades. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteWe get Maccas once in while for a change, mostly I cook. The drive through is open 24/7.
DeleteHave never had a burger from those fast food restaurants..so many colourful signs!
ReplyDeleteThat's good, we don't often have a meal from there, just once in a while for a change. Signs are colourful so we don't miss them I guess Angie.
DeleteMcDonald's está por todos lados. Yo veo muchos por España.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
Yes I'm told they are everywhere.
DeleteWe have a Maccas quite close to home. Which I have never been to. Sadly the signs asking for courtesy and consideration seem to be everywhere now. It isn't sad that they are there, but it is sad that they are needed.
ReplyDeleteWe have Maccas once in while but neither of us are fans of it. It's a change from home cooking and that's about it.
DeleteIt is sad that those 'courtesy and consideration' signs have to be put about these days, have seen several over the past few years EC.
Interesting collection of signs!
ReplyDeleteYes, something different from me Ashok.
DeleteMolto originale questo post con fotografie diverse dal solito.
ReplyDeleteOttima idea
Yes Stefania, something different from me.
DeleteYou are showing the signs from your end of town.
ReplyDeleteThe latter signs are from my end of town, the Southern end, the first few are from the northern end, over the Tamar Bridge to the north.
DeleteSuch signs are seen all over the place different towns same signs well it seems like that to me
ReplyDeleteYou are right Jo-Anne, having travelled within Australia you always see the signs from a distance in the larger towns as smaller towns don't have those signs.
DeleteIt's hard to imagine there would be much of a threat to staff in a Rivers store.
ReplyDeleteYes Andrew, hard to believe but it must happen otherwise the sign wouldn't be there - once there wasn't any signs like that one, you would remember.
DeleteI find it curious that you can't sell alcoholic beverages in supermarkets. I assume there will be special places for it.
ReplyDeleteI would be the opposite to you, if I saw alcohol being sold in our supermarkets it would be very strange for me. Yes, there are many places to buy alcohol, special stores/shops often they are attached to Hotels but not all of them.
DeleteThe liquor areas here in Terrigal are right next to either Coles or W/worths
ReplyDeleteand you can get your supplies and then walk straight into the store.
No big deal.
I have been to Mac Donalds once in my life and that was once too many - YUCK!
I have never heard of Shiploads.
Interesting post.
Miserable wet day here - and NO fires.
What do you think of that 13 year old girl fire lighter and the shocking
results of her damnable efforts. Looks like the book has been thrown at her
by the authorities.
Cheers
Colin
Well that's handy being next door, we found that when we travelled within Australia but of course it depends if there is land to build on to do that.
DeleteMaccas is not very nice but we have it once in awhile, gives me a rest from cooking for the family all the time.
Pleased there are NO fires as they really are a worry as are floods.
Never heard about the 13 year old, must Google it Colin.
Interesting to see all these signs. But I couldn't place where I went when I was in Hobart earlier in the year. I mainly stayed in a hotel in the city.
ReplyDeleteWell Maccas and some eating places are not always within the city itself. Sometimes there might be a Maccas or signs we are familiar with on the highway/roads, if on holiday in Hobart one wouldn't see these signs unless you hired a vehicles and travelled around different areas.
DeleteCool signs. Its all over the same.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteBeautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe never go to a fast food restaurant.
I love the header.
Greetings Irma
Thanks re the header, photo from the garden in spring last year, we cleaned them out but of course still have a few.
DeleteWell that's good you don't go, many people don't and many people do...I personally prefer to eat something more healthier.
Gostei de ver estes sinais.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

Thank you and something different for me to show.
DeleteYou should be receiving your cheques for all the publicity you have given these businesses!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I won't receive anything...lol
DeleteFotografías indicando lugares que seguramente sueles visitar, como dice David por la propaganda que les haces deberian bonificarte
ReplyDeleteMe ha gustado llegar a tu blog
Un abrazo
Thank you Stella, I won't receive anything as I'm doing it just to show people the small city I live in.
DeleteThat was very enjoyable Margaret! Fun that McDonalds is called Maccas in Australia. I also wholly approve of the 'respect' sign on the door. No excuse for those with short fuses treating the hard-working people behind the counter so badly. We go to a fastfood restaurant at least once a week, usually when out running errands. We always go to different ones and go to Maccas (love it) once a month.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you liked my post Denise. Always called Maccas here as Australian love to shorten names for some weird reason.
DeleteEnjoy your outings.
Buenas imagenes de este mundo moderno en que vivimos.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteOurs have different names but sell the same things! Cool signage!
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
Thanks Donna.
DeleteHungry Jacks? That and several others are new to me. It is interesting to see signs from other countries. Isn't it a same when we have to post signs telling customers to treat the workers with respect? We have the same issue here.
ReplyDeleteFrom memory Hungry Jacks is called Burger King in the US and Canada.
DeleteIt's not good with signs having to tell customers to respect workers in their shops, kind of makes me wonder what the future holds in years to come.
A nice collection of signs. Kind of sad they need a sign asking people not to be verbally abusive. Seems like common sense to me!
ReplyDeleteTo me it's common sense as well, but unfortunately some people don't have any.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your interesting collection of signs, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings
Thank you Veronica..
DeleteNice Launceston town, eating is not a place frequent Margaret
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob. I can understand you not eating at those places.
DeleteBeautiful photos
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend
Thank you.
DeleteAlways suggestive and indicative, some of them very original
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
Nice photos of the town.
ReplyDeleteIs there really a "Quarantine Rd" ? :)
Interesting idea, sharing photos of signs you found, I loved it!
ReplyDeleteUna entrada interesante Margaret, alguno de ellos también los hay por aquí. Besos.
ReplyDeleteNice to see this collection of signs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
