Cunnamulla is about 750km West of Brisbane, so another outback town with a population of about 1,200 people. We stayed a night and looked around and had a meal at the RSL Club - Returned Serviceman's Club.
The weir in the second photo, Warrego River in the first one. The remainder speak for themselves.
We were told there were so many kangaroos in and around this area that if the grass wasn't green in the scrub that so many kangaroos gathered on the towns oval for a feed of green grass with no standing room for people.
The War Memorial
Complimenti per le splendide fotografie.
ReplyDeleteUn posto meraviglioso!
Thank you.
DeleteLooks like a great place to explore. The war memorial is pretty impressive. I like the looks of the weir. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteNice looking weir, a little different
DeleteMe encanta el salto de agua, de la fotografía número 2.
ReplyDeleteBesos
Thanks, it is nice
DeleteWhat a beautiful town! I really enjoy the view of Warrego River.
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteA very beautiful town! It looks quiet and relaxing, ideal for spending some days far from the chaos of the cities.
ReplyDeleteIt’s certainly a long way from the city.
DeleteI don't think I have ever seen a fountain War Memorial before. It is a really nice change.
ReplyDeleteI like 'Weary' and his dog too.
Me either, it’s part of the War Memorial certainly different.
DeleteFabulous population of about 1,200 people, it is freedom.
ReplyDeleteCertainly is freedom out there, long way from nowhere.
DeleteSuch nice photos of a nice looking town
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne
DeleteThere must be a sense of isolation living in one of these outback towns.
ReplyDeleteThere must be but the people who live there probably don’t look at it that way because they have never lived anywhere else.
DeletePoor old Weary. Imagine the evaporation rate in the fountain.
ReplyDeleteWater just disappears in the outback.
DeleteI just finished watching a 2010 Australian movie, "Red Hill". Essentially a "Western" plot, with an evil police inspector, a falsely accused native, a young constable who gets into all kinds of problem. But the little town in the movie reminded me of many of the outback towns you have shown us. Another fine post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. Have to make myself familiar with that movie..
DeleteNot award winning, but with some beautiful cinematography, and a lively plot.
Delete:)
DeleteBeautiful river view. A very nice little town. Beautiful fountain memorial and great sculpture of Weary.
ReplyDeleteRather lovely Nancy isn’t it.
DeleteBelas fotografias, gostei de ver.

Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting Margaret, great photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise.
DeleteI was born in a small outback town, so I have feelings for this kind of town everywhere in the world.
ReplyDeleteThe sculpture of the Weary is rather unique. Never seen anything like that before. I have seen memorials of various types, but no sculpture dedicated to the common, weary human.
You would then appreciate outback towns as I do as the people are often the backbone of our country.
DeleteInteresting that sculpture of the weary human.
Nice photos. as we say here another corner of your land.
ReplyDeleteHappy week.
Best regards.
That's true, another corner and there are indeed so many.
DeleteI always enjoy your post and photographs.
ReplyDeleteJust love the reflection in your first one here.

The poem depicts those that are weary in Australia.
