My eye operation went well and I can now see to blog without glasses (just) but will need them to read in early March when both eyes have settled. My old glasses are of no use and I'm using magnifying glasses to read and ordinary sunglasses for outside.
Thank you to all who wished me the best and inquired.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a good New Year.
So back to holiday within Australia in winter 2019.
Drakes IGA Supermarket in Biloela is a beauty, much better than the bigger supermarket chains and certainly cleaner and well kept.
Came across popcorn and just couldn't resist purchasing some, it was delicious.
We visited Biloela in 2017, blog post [ here ] also 2018 [ here ] with a few photos of Kangaroos.
So.much.food.😄
ReplyDeleteSomething for everyone there to buy.
DeleteAs you say, clean and well organized, but where are the shoppers?

DeleteSorry a mistake made in first comment.
DeletePossibly preparing early as country folk do for the possibilities of bushfires in the summer.
Which presently are the curse of Australia.
Put the fire fronts in a line which we have here at present and it is the distance from Melbourne (MEL) Victoria, Australia to Bangkok (BKK) Thailand by plane! That distance is 7,368 kilomtres. That's a bloody long way.
The air distance in comparison from Honolulu (HNL) to Denver (DEN), Colorado is 5,382 kilometres.
I am pleased to report that fire fighters from Canada are here in force assisting their fellow fire fighters in Australia.
For this as an Australian I, like others here, am most grateful for.
Colin
I waited till there was no one in the aisles plus it was late afternoon.
DeleteThere is also a big chain supermarket in the same town and there were plenty of people there.
I do the same, I try not to take photos with people looking.
Delete:)
DeleteI would be lost in that supermarket, it's so huge. :)
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a big one but easy to find your way around.
DeleteEstá limpio y bien organizado el Supermercado. Es una tarea, que tenemos las amas de casa, en nuestra vida diaria.
ReplyDeleteBesos
It certainly is a daily process for the housewife to keep the kitchen and food clean and tidy..
DeleteIt does look clean and well organised. Our IGAs are a mixed bag.
ReplyDeletePopcorn is not for me, but I am glad you enjoyed it.
And even gladder that your eye operations went well.
We have a local IGA and it doesn't have much as it's not a super IGA, but it's clean.
DeleteLove popcorn when in the mood for it, I go in fads.
Thanks re eye :)
Good news about your eyes.
ReplyDeleteIGA supermarkets are so much nicer to visit than the really big ones. They can't really compete on price, but they do in other ways.
Many towns just have an IGA, some have Foodlands as well or only, bit of a mixed bag.
DeleteGlad to hear your surgery went well and you are recovering and back to blogging.
ReplyDeleteWe have the IGA grocery stores in small towns in the U.S. but they are not the best quality.
Thanks Cynthia. One week today since I had the eye done.
DeleteIGA, wow just looked that up and they are the same as ours but not sure if ours and the American ones are connected.
Country people support the IGA chains as they are Aussie owned,
ReplyDeleteThe produce I have always found is top notch.
I don't think Biloela is in the bushfire area, but it is possible that
1. you shopped very early
or
2. the good people of Biloela are making preparations for what may happen. After all February is the hottest month and the fire season is far from over.
I visited Biloela way back in the 1980's. It is a well kept country town.
Colin
They do support them Colin, they are franchised and operator owned.
DeleteShopped late in the afternoon Colin, waited till people were gone and quickly took a shot.
We like Biloela - has that country town feel to it.
That is great about your eyes I like a clean and organsied supermarket our local IGA isn't much chop though which is why I shop at Coles
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne re eyes.
DeleteDon't blame you for shopping at Coles, you go where you can get what you want for a reasonable price.
We use to have an IGA where I live and not sure if there still in United States of not. Might of been bought out by someone else.
ReplyDeleteI believe there are a few IGA's over your way Dora.
DeleteA supermarket with nobody there, strange.
ReplyDeleteTrue it's odd but it was late afternoon and not many people around at all.
DeleteA lot of things in there! Have a lovely week☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalia.
DeleteSo many products to choose from, we had a wonderful time looking.
That is a big store for a country town. Glad your op went well. Make a quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. Yes it is one of the biggest we have seen.
DeleteI think I too need a magnifying glass to read especially the smaller prints. Wow! That is one big supermarket.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how the magnifying glass's help.
DeleteStaff were also helpful and pleasant there.
Me alegra que la operación haya salido bien y también me alegro de verte. Un abrazo.
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa :)
DeleteI am grateful and happy that your operation went successful my friend !
ReplyDeleteusing magnifying glass is okay for eyes right ? i fear for using it as i think my eyes will used to it and normal eyeglasses will of no use ,what i mean is that i think magnifying glass must be the last option and is for extremely weak eyesight ?
this food market is wonderful and so well arranged
ReplyDeletethis food market is wonderful and so well arranged
