The first stop

Early off the ship/ferry in Melbourne, Victoria and headed north to a place called Euroa, Victoria.
Last year we stayed there on the way north, this year we didn't but stayed there for a few nights on the way back.

Last year at Euroa and another post at Euroa

We stopped for a rest as we hadn't had one since leaving Melbourne, so out came the camera and I took a couple of photos which are not the same as the year before.

Date palms above.
Below the creek called Seven Creeks.
Major Mitchell camped on the banks of the Seven Creeks at Euroa in 1836. The Major was an explorer.

That's the way to the main shopping centre and that is a grocery shop on the right where I bought a pretty scarf  on the way home. The grocery shop is a lovely one, and there is a hardware shop and a clothing shop all under one roof owned by the grandson of the original owner.  A nice man as he knew we were not local and made us welcome in his shop.

  4. Looks like a great spot to bide a while, Margaret. I was interested to read of Major Mitchell. You are probably aware that there is a bird called Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo, doubtless named after him.

    1. Yes, those parrots are named after Major Mitchell who was a surveyor and explorer of south eastern Australia in the 1800. There is also a road/highway called the Mitchell Highway also name after him.
We drove from Euroa to the ship.

  9. The last photo with the gum - looks like this Euroa is subjected to some pretty strong winds during the year.

    1. Could well be Colin with the wind, it's not a sheltered place. It can also flood there.

  13. It is good to bring back a lovely souvenir such as your scarf from trips - it reinforces your memories of that time and the location at which it was bought.

    1. It does Rosemary. Often buy jewellery at a jewellery shop in cities and town but after several years I've forgotten where I bought what :)

  14. You'll be surprised to learn - well maybe, that a promotion of the products of the Tamar Valley is being held here in the forecourt of the huge Erina Fair Mall Complex.
Yesterday when I spotted the caravan, I thought well maybe there is a Tamar Valley here in this mid-coast region, there is a village after all called WYOMING!
Anyhow it is your true Tassie one.
Presently they are promoting your fine Tamar Yogurt.
    Cheers
