We had no idea that such a race existed. Indeed we are totally amazed that there are so many penny farthing bicycles and riders left to make a race at all. What a wonderful sight this must make and how skilful these riders must be.
Well, one learns something new every day!

DeleteThe race looks good fun. I remember seeing some people riding penny farthing bicycles dressing in Victorian outfits, and I wondered how the women managed wearing long skirts.

DeleteThere are women who wear period costumes on the day of the race, it's interesting to see.

Not another competitor in sight at the finish. He is quite a clear winner.

Thank God bicycle makers came to their senses. The Bloody thing must have been the most uncomfortable contraption ever built to ride. I wonder where the person we doubled on an ordinary bike perched???

Well what fun we have or have had on bikes of today and before that even. I don't know if they doubled back in those days...but I do recall seeing two people on a penny-farthing.
DeleteIt's a lovely village which is kept as it was, well they have tried to, but on the outskirts of the village there are of course new and newer houses.

I remember that cute little town and it has a sculpture of a penny farthing. It must have been so much fun watching them.
