Eggs and Bunnies on display!

Thought that I would like to share some Easter Eggs in the local supermaket - just a small array taken with my phone.
Then I remembered that Cadbury's are going to take a row off the Dairy Milk Chocolate and no doubt charge the same price.
We have a Cadbury's Factory down south, in the Hobart Area.
Founded by John Cadbury in 1824 in Birmingham in the UK.
Not a great lover of chocolate, but once in awhile I get a fad for it and it's always Caramelo or Cherry Ripes.
Link to the Australian site, and you will find the history plus much more.

The Cadbury factory from a distance in Claremont - Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.
This photo is borrowed, have no idea how old it is, plus I have no idea who took the snap.

  2. The factory looks huge. I gave up chocolate for Lent, so you made my mouth water. I'll have one of those eggs for Easter day!

  3. i remember the factory well as my g/mother used to visit tassie at least once a year and bring back chocolate (of course) and lollies from darrell lea. we didn't have darrell lea in adelaide and the little tubes of square pink lollies were my favourite. i can take or leave chocolate most of the time but do indulge sometimes. my dad had a terrible sweet tooth and would eat it all the time. he grew up in the depression so it was a treat for him. i give the g/kids a token easter egg. not far away now is it? time moves too fast :) hope you are well M xxx

    1. I think everyone visited the factory...I haven't as yet, but I don't know if they still have tours..
I can understand that about the depression and things being a treat as in chocolate. I'm doing ok down here thanks :)

  4. It was a very big issue here when the long established Cadburys was taken over by American giant Kraft in 2010. Sadly this is what they have done to a lot of the products - reduced them in size and also removed several favourites from the shelves.

    1. Oh I bet it was a big thing. I know it was when Kraft took over Australian made products.

  5. I sometimes get a hankering for a chocolate fix too but it has to be Cadbury's - fruit and nut is my favourite. I believe that Cadbury's were bought out by Hersheys from the USA a year or two ago. Thankfully the chocolate hasn't changed which is just as well as American chocolate is horrible.

  6. Chocolate is my downfall. Can't live without it! I never buy American chocolate, only imported, and ss dark as possible. Oh, dear, I think I need some right now!

    1. I have heard that American chocolate isn't the best to taste for many people. I don't care for dark chocolate..

  8. Did I hear the public tours at Cadbury have been reinstated? I too buy the occasional Cherry Ripe, but I always ponder before hand, is the coconut that gets stuck in your teeth outweigh the pleasure of eating the bar.

    1. You may be heard that. I don't know if it's so, must try and find out. Oh yes, need a tooth pick at times.

  9. The Cadbury Chocolate when Australian owned is not anything like that expensive, thin, wafer sized rubbish produced now. Cadbury and I think Nestles also have been Americanised and one thing for sure Americans can't make chocolates.
The Cadbury of yesterday was so thick for the fillings which oozed out, the dark and light coloured chocolates had different textures and tastes - nowdays you might as well buy cardboard in pretty wrappings! And we are asked to buy Australian, but do they add on - made by Americans??
So like Cynthia from the USA, I buy Swiss or Belgian brands.
I read very supermarket food brand and only buy Australian - one of the rare imported products
is chocolate - I feel like a traitor and how I loved Cadburys before this bloody takeover and change.
Cheers intermingled with tears for the demise of my beloved Aussie Cadburys

  10. Cadbury makes the best eggs and bunnies, my children and grandchildren are chocolate snobs, they will not look at the cheaper ones. I first saw them on the shelves last month which was just ridicules

    1. Far to early they put the Easter chocolates outs, but the shops think they may sell more I suppose.
