Update: Ariarne Titmus as some of you may know has won a Gold Medal in the 400 meters at the Paris Olympics, 2024.
A Mural in the city of a Tasmanian Olympic and Champion Swimmer Ariarne Titmus born here in Launceston in 2000. Ariarne and her parents moved to Queensland in 2015 for better training opportunities.
Ariarne is an OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia) she is the reigning Olympic Champion in the women's 200 meter and 400 meter freestyle, having won both events at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and the world record holder in the long course 200 meter freestyle and 400 meter freestyle events.
We Tasmanian's along with the State of Queensland and all of Australia wish her well for the Paris Olympic Games this year as well as all our Athletes.
Good luck to Ariarne, and the all Olympic athletes!
ReplyDeleteLet it be a celebration of peace and gentle gentle struggles!
Have a nice day Margaret🧡
Thank you Katerinas.
DeleteWishing her luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill.
DeleteTwo world records? She deserves a huge mural in the middle of the city that everyone can identify with. You go, Ariarne!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hels.
DeleteBuen Mural, como homenaje. Tiene mucha simpatía, con esa sonrisa que le sale espontáneamente.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
It is nice mural.
DeleteBest of LUCK, Ariarne!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie.
DeleteThe very best of luck to her - and I love the mural and its sentiments.
ReplyDeleteIs it a good likeness of her and thank you EC.
DeleteThat is such a cool mural - and great way to inspire and wish your champion well!! Here's to another medal!:)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer. Hoping there will be another medal too.
DeleteNice mural, us Aussie's do have some amazing swimmers
ReplyDeleteWe certainly do have some brilliant swimmers, now and in the past Jo-Anne.
DeleteThat is a gorgeous mural
ReplyDeleteYes I think it is too -- the smile says it all.
DeleteThat's nice, and the advertising is discreet.
ReplyDeleteIt is discreet, up Wellington Street it is near the supermarket, Woolies to be exact, right new door on the pub wall.
DeleteAriarne will "kick/swamp/drown" the socks off the Yanks and the Chinese.
ReplyDeleteThe doping committee will ensure this time the Chinese are CLEAN!
They will be swamped by her waves.
The Aussie swimming team is the strongest ever sent to an Olympics and
will bring great delight to our great country.
C'mon Aussie c'mon.
Cheers
From the Terrigal Cheer leader.
Colin
Hopefully she and all Australians at the Olympics do well Colin.
DeleteWe can only hope there is no cheating by anyone these games.
See I was right - we are ready to swoop the pool AGAIN!
DeleteC'mon Aussie - c'mon!
Such a pity with the two girls on the high board diving - that last double dive
could have been disastrous - the girl on the right was lucky to have not sustained serious head injuries - her right foot was almost over the side.
Top of the medal tally ! Bike riders, swimmers and rowing tonight .
Sleep deprivation for next 13 nights but I love it.
Colin
Not good with the diving as you say Colin. I'm recording overnight from the TV to the External HD then I watch only what I want to watch, saves me watching TV all day, I'm not into doing that.
Deletewhat a lovely mural. =]
ReplyDeleteThank you, I took the photo just after it was painted.
DeleteEs un bonito mural. te mando un beso.

DeleteI think this is a beautiful mural.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Irma
Thank you Irma.
DeleteI agree! That's a lovely tribute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill.
DeleteThe sad thing is that athletes have become almost a sideshow, with some of them even requiring armed security twenty-four hours a day given that politics and ancient hatreds dominate every aspect of life.
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe that is so for some David.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteNice picture of that paint on the wall of this famous swimmer.
It's nice that she is still honored in this way.
Many greetings,
Marco
It is lovely that the city she was born in has done this mural of her...thank you Marco.

ReplyDeleteBe careful of insufficient sleep caused by watching TV.
That's the trouble, time difference. I recorded the Olympics on an external HD from the TV so I can watch it today which I've done.
DeleteGood luck to Ariarne!
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
