Targa is a rural area North East of Launceston and only a few klm away, it's pretty and green. Took these shots when passing through. The first photo is of a river called St. Patrick's River.
Targa is an aboriginal word for 'cry'
Nothing like a good old scratch.
Beautiful photos, I think the ferns are great.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so beautifully green, here everything is bare and there is snow.
Greetings Irma
Thank you Irma. It's a lovely area and usually always green there.
DeletePrecioso verde Margaret. También es preciosa la flor del castaño de Indias de la cabecera.Por aquí hay muchos pero la flor es blanca.
ReplyDeleteBuena semana.
Un abrazo.
Thank you Laura.
DeleteFun to see your landscape, it is so different than anything we have around here!
ReplyDeleteHere the landscape changes from one area to another, on the west coast it's very different.
DeleteSo green and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie, it's usually always green there.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteAlso, this is beautiful:
'Music has no barriers, for it knows all languages'.
Thank you. Yes, no matter where we go music can bring us together.

ReplyDeleteLovely there Duta. Yes, Targa for joy even though it means the near opposite.
DeleteSuch lovely photos
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo-Anne.
DeleteWhat a green part of Tasmania.
ReplyDeleteIt is as many areas are if the rainfall is good.
DeleteThe Tasmanian Woods, forests, and lands, are so nice and beautiful. I think that now is summer with a good climatology!!
ReplyDeleteYes it's summer and the weather has been wonderful so far, today a good rain which is needed.
DeleteNothing like seeing a beautiful Aberdeen Angus cow top photo and a young heifer
ReplyDeletein the second. Tassie beef is the best in Australia and so expensive in butcher
shops.
Lovely peaceful and serene photos - well done.
Cheers
Colin
PS: The sun is at last out here in Terrigal !!!!
Pleased you have the sun out as I've heard about your rainy/cloudy days - it's been good down here, rain today which is needed.
DeleteGood looking cows, nicely filled out in their green pasture.
The green is absolutely lush. So why "cry"? Is the annual rainfall sometimes unreliable?
ReplyDeleteHave no idea why white people called it Targa 'cry', the rainfall is satisfactory each year, it might be that the area is lovely so hence it would make you cry to see it...just a thought Hels.
DeleteCry me a river? It's a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteWell done River...I never thought of that!
DeleteWhat a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely as you travel along.
DeleteOh, it's beautiful... this green... this landscape and these cattle on the lush pasture.
ReplyDeleteI would like to visit Tasmania... it's so far away...
A happy greeting to you from Viola
Yes we live on the otherside of the world, but people come here from all over the world, well some people do - oneday you might, you just never know.
DeleteAnother very lovely place and green grasses is on the North West Coast.
It’s mystifying - and troubling too - that white settlers pretty much set out to destroy the aboriginal population, but kept some of their place names.
ReplyDeleteSome places have been renamed along with the English version David and only in the last several years mostly due to pressure from the Aboriginal people, the ones who are more educated in these matters. Targa however, has always been that name along with a few other town as well, where my late father was born was and is has an Aboriginal meaning.
DeleteLovely spot :)
ReplyDeleteYes it is Liam. Thank you.
DeleteLuxuriant greenery. So relaxing...
ReplyDeleteNot much going on there so it does give that feeling of relaxing.
DeleteI wonder if the connection to "cry" is because the sky cries a lot, giving lots of rain. It sure does look a lush area.
ReplyDeleteYou could be correct Pauline. Many reason why it's called Targa (cry). Be good to find out if I could.
DeleteEsos paisajes me parecen preciosos. Gracias Margaret.
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa, lovely to see in person.
DeleteIt all looks so green.
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs and nice to see the ferns.
All the best Jan

DeleteA lovely area Margaret, I enjoyed seeing the cows in the field. The river and the greenery, beautiful! I see no green today, we had another snowfall. I also enjoyed learning an Aboriginal word, thank you! Everywhere looks beautiful and I hear the roads are clear, which is good for those who have to travel.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm Denise, not a hot day today as a cool snap is passing at 23degC...
DeleteA beautiful green landscape where the animals can live peacefully and the humans in total relax. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteExactely, lovely and quiet as well.
DeleteLovely to see everything green and flourish while we are in the dead of winter right now.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm where you are.
