Most days people swam, got in their kayaks or sat by the tidal river bank at the caravan park. A pile of sand acts as a beach.
Was a rather warm day at 30degC so several people took their chairs and put them in the water when the tide was low to keep cooler, this was late in the afternoon. The lady below was getting ready the dog floater for her daughter to put in the water.
The people below putting up their shade for part of the day by the river.
These two people were some distance away camping in the grounds, and the photo below shows someone else's vehicle with their roof top tent where they sleep. Not my idea of camping but it suits them.
People are having fun and relaxing... : )
ReplyDeleteThey all seemed to be enjoying their holidays.
DeleteDon't think I would want to sleep on top of the vehicle. Nice place to camp and enjoy the water.
ReplyDeleteNor would I Bill but very handy for many people when travelling.
DeleteSeems like a delightful outing beside the water :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the beautiful views and commentary by you how people were having fun through various settings.
The couple sitting separately were introvert probably.
Hugs and blessings my dear Margaret!
A lot of people like to sit on their own and not talk to others, seems a bit strange but that's the way they are Baili. Thank you.
DeleteWhat a fantastic place to rest and for the little ones to have fun. I also loved sitting there on the edge of that beautiful river. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria. It's so wonderful to see people making their own fun including the children.
DeleteNice place to camp, but I don't like having to sleep on top of a car.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Irma
I wouldn't want to sleep on the top of the car either, certainly made for a younger person than myself.
DeleteGood times to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteCertainly John
DeleteLooks like that everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Angie, always people laughing including the children.
DeleteThe title of your post reminds me of a famous afro-american spiritual: 'I'm gonna lay down by the river/Down by the riverside/Down by the riverside'.... (referring to crossing river Jordan in the Bible).
ReplyDeleteWell there you are, the title reminded you of the Bible :)
DeleteTidal river can be a nice camping spot it seems. The life of people is so relaxing there
ReplyDeleteMost of the people seemed to be relaxed there.
DeleteWe had a tent like the one you show on the roof of the truck. It is very useful when we want to travel very long distances and sleep on either side of the route.
ReplyDeleteKisses Margaret
Yes very handy that type of thing, certainly not for an older person like me but good for many. There are so many types of sleeping quarters, something to suit all kinds of peoples needs.
DeleteIt's a large inflatable. I hope the daughter was of reasonable age. If it is tidal, I suppose the water is somewhat salty.
ReplyDeleteYes the daughter was about 8 I would say Andrew.
DeleteThe Huon River is a Tidal freshwater one. The water from the high country flowers into the Huon River then out to sea apparently. I'm sure it would be a bit salty in some places.
Muy bella serie de imagenes, amiga
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGreat fun and amazing sun light. Hope you enjoy your holiday. Hope you have a complete picnic with safety.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt's been a long time since I camped but always did it in a tent and I have no doubt that this activity was at least in part responsible for my daughter being as involved with and committed to nature as her dad. And my oldest grandson is following right along.
ReplyDeleteTo me a tent is proper camping. That's wonderful your family is following in your footsteps, if introduced to such activities when young if seems to carry on.
DeleteGood on them.
Bellissimo posto per passare un tranquillo pomeriggio di relax
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is and was Stefania.
DeleteTendría que ser un día cálido, yo jamás me metería en un agua que esté helada.
ReplyDeleteBesos.
I'm like that too.
DeleteSe ve que lo pasaron bien, el lugar se ve bonito. Feliz semana.
ReplyDeleteThey all seemed to have a good time Teresa which is good.
DeleteLooks nice! We are having here in Finland cold and snow
ReplyDeleteWon't be too long and your spring will be here.
DeleteBloody good photos sleeping on top of a car is more for the young
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne. For sure it's for the younger people, I certainly couldn't get up there..lol
DeleteHello, This is my first visit and I will surely return again, your photos are lovely. You really captured the spirit of being down by the river.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pauline.
DeleteSo much fun
ReplyDeleteLots of laughter which is so good to ones ear.
DeleteDías tranquilos disfrutando el buen tiempo. He visto a muchos durmiendo en el techo de la furgoneta.
ReplyDeleteBuen martes Margaret.
Un abrazo.
We don't see many people doing that only a few. Thank you Laura.
DeleteOver here, when it is hot, we will hide indoors.
ReplyDeleteA lot do here too but many don't
DeleteI was JUST listening to that song!
ReplyDeleteAs I went down in the valley to pray,
Studying about that good old way,
When you shall wear the starry crown,
Good Lord, show me the way.
Funny, there's not a verse about a giant inflated Dalmatian.
I copy pasted those lyrics. The version I was listening to says down to the river, not valley. Hmm.
DeleteThanks for those lyrics Sani..they are lovely. Never heard lyrics about a Dalmatian either.
DeleteIt is comforting to see these photos when here and now we are surrounded by snow and at night the temperature drops by one degree.
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
Keep warm. Hopefully the photo make you feel warmer. In our winter I enjoy seeing photos of the northern summer, makes me feel warmer.
DeleteLooks a nice place to be.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Always lovely there Jan.
DeleteWeather has a big impact on our quality of life: our mood, our health, our activities or lack of.
ReplyDeleteThe snake in your post has an 'impressive' size which says - stay away from me!
The weather sure does make a lot of difference at home and when away.
DeleteThat snake, husband was thinking and hoping it didn't turn back and climb up underneath the vehicle. It didn't.
