Evandale

Please note that from Sunday September 18 there are so many blogs I can't comment on due to 'Blogger' playing up again, so many posts I can't click onto on my list as well..my apologies.

Inside the General Store in Evandale where I've never been before it wasn't what I expected to see.  I thought I would be seeing groceries and all manner of items one could buy for the house, you know 'things' you can't find anywhere else, but I was wrong.  To me it's a shop that sells a few home make biscuits, blankets, rugs, odds and ends including books on various subjects, even gorgeous jumpers and cost about $300 to $500AUD each, but they are beautiful.  I managed to sneak a few photo of inside part of the store.

    1. Well nearly Catarina, I certainly could find plenty to purchase in there but I didn't.

  2. It looks very similar to shops here too - our National Trust Shops, and boutique shops especially in tourist villages. They always have an interesting and eclectic mix of things to buy, but as you mention are usually expensive.

  4. VERY different (and I suspect more expensive) than the General Stores of my youth. It would be fun to wander round in though.

    1. Yes it's expensive but what they sell seems to be of good quality.

  5. So good to see a store like this again. Once upon a time, Mount Dandenong in Melbourne tends to local crafts and produce like that. This town is one of the many pleasures to roadtrip in Tassie.

    1. It is a good little town to venture into, coffee shop, art galleries along with a leather shop. Interesting about Mount Dandenong, just driven past there only.

  6. I think it is a very difficult shop to describe. I wonder how long it has been open. Answering myself, continually operating since 1843.

  8. It has a bit of everything. Is it similar to that huge store for everything in Latrobe?

  10. I enjoy browsing stores like this-- and I don't feel a bit guilty if I don't buy anything. Your pictures catch the place nicely!

    Best regards.

  12. No están muy bien ordenados los productos con estanterías que separen esa gran cantidad de productos. Con tanta acumulación de cosas, es fácil que muchas de ellas, pasaran desapercibidas.
    Besos.
