Tahune Airwalk.

Tahune Airwalk and Adventures isn't too far south from Huonville.  We had been to the airwalk several years ago and decided to go again.  There were 104 steps up to the walk, we managed with many stops along the way because as you get older you just can't spring up those steps like you used to do..and mind you there were plenty of young people stopping for rests as well.

There is a big car park, accommodation, a shelter shed which is in the first photo with tables outside.  You can go hang gliding and there are many walks within the park.  A few years ago a savage bush fire burnt down heaps of trees so hence the bush is not at it's best with so many trees now gone.  The whole area including the tree walk was closed for a couple of years for safety reasons.  There is an admission fee which is not that expensive.

If you enlarge the above photo and read a little it tells you of the Policeman who was protector of the pines.  The photo below tells of the Custodians of this Land.

The Huon River looking both ways.  This River is the one that goes through Huonville further north.

  1. It looks like a nice place for walks and picnics. Hopefully, no bush fires any more.

  7. I suppose that was the walk we took the first time we visited Tasmania. I can't remember the steps but if I took the walk now, I would forever remember the steps. It's a nice looking area.

  9. What a beautiful place to walk.
It's normal that you have to rest a few times to climb all those stairs.
    The view is beautiful.

    1. Apparently Angelo some people are having a problem commenting on some blogs, some people cannot comment at all...a glitch in blogger. Hopefully soon all will be as normal, patience is the key..

    1. I'm sure Laura that you will be able to climb stairs for years to come, it's when you get 'old' like me it's difficult :)

  19. Beautiful place, I could not climb so many steps, I have a problem in a knee and it prevents me especially from climbing and also walking walks, but I love them and I have done them when I was fine.
    Best regards.

    1. It's good you did it once, knees, ankles and hips can be a problem when trying to walk as we age. Consider myself lucky that I was able to climb those steps, just.

  20. What an incredible place, it must be very pleasant to walk around.
It also costs me a bit to go uphill and long walks, because my spine starts to hurt.

    1. Yes it's a fair walk up but ok with many rests. Can understand the spine not being to good.
