About a week before Christmas 2021 we left our house with a son in charge of watering the garden, mowing lawns, not that they grow much in summer, cooking for himself (the oven wasn't used), I think he bought food home often!
We always go down the Midland Highway as it's called through the old towns. A few photos taken on the day we left at the old town of Ross, Tasmania, Australia.
The usual photo of the
Ross Bridge and the Macquarie River which used to flood but hasn't for a very long time.
The usual curry scallop pie for lunch.
The Post Office which was opened in 1832, the Bridge was completed in 1836.
The house in the last photo is typical of the old houses in that area.
Querida Margaret, que passeio delicioso, que ponte incrível: adorei!
ReplyDeleteAs rosinhas rasteiras dão charme em frente a bela casa!
bjssss
It is such a beautiful old bridge and always take a photo of it.
DeleteThe roses do look nice.
A nice place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI like the old house.
It is nice there in Ross, never taken a photo of that house before, so glad I did.
DeleteI really like to walk with you through different routes in Australia, a place that I would like to know and that they say is geographically very similar to mine Argentina
ReplyDeleteAll places are interesting and it's wonderful to share photos of what others see as they travel or move about their cities, towns or just going about their day. I always enjoy looking too.
DeleteHello, Margaret. I love bridges, gardens, water... Thank you, nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I too love bridges.
DeleteNice looking bridge, I'm a bridge fan too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting structures are bridges Bill.
DeleteSounds as if you have been enjoying a lovely long break away from home.
ReplyDeleteOh we did Rosemary. I can't imagine staying in a B&B or Hotel for a month, yes a week would be ok but the caravan enables one to travel a different way/style for a change.
DeleteNice photos, scallop pie isn't something I have tried
ReplyDeleteIf you like scallops then the pie is for you Jo-Anne. The scallop pies are popular down here.
DeleteThe last house without eaves in the cooler climate. The post office looks wonderful with such richly coloured stone.
ReplyDeleteCan get away without any eaves down here, they were in fashion a few years back but not so much now. It's a great Post Office, it always looks nice.
DeleteThanks for sharing your visit to Tasmania with us. Beautiful bridge, nice old house and great looking curry scallop pie.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Nancy.
DeleteThat bridge looks really great! I have never had a scallop pie in my life :-/ It looks so good!
ReplyDeleteIf you like scallops a pie is for you. It's just a normal pie with curry and scallops inside and a bit of what tastes a like white sauces and gravy of course curry.
DeleteJust a simple "thanks" for sharing your sights and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill.

DeleteVery nice photos, I hope you had a good time, the bridge is spectacular, I love it.
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
Great to explore your home state. As I have said before, it was hands down my favourite state in Australia.
ReplyDeleteOriginal buildings, the one with a covered terrace - I like it the most! It is big and spacious as I think ...
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely looking bridge.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Encantada de pasear contigo, las fotos son preciosas, el puente es muy bonito. Un abrazo Margaret.
