Down by the South Esk River at Evandale near the Launceston Airport. This is the picnic area with trees,m they too have now been cut down.. I have been hunting in my photos and came across photos I took a couple of years ago with the trees gone by the River which I will post next post.
The tree at the picnic table looks really nice...sad it was gone too.

There is a path there now but trees are gone, just one or two remaining and many people take their dogs for a job or walk along by the river.

DeleteNo crocodiles down here it’s too cold for them, they like the hear as in the tropics…no bad spiders in the river or snakes :)

Trees you all safe and sound, it's just when the river rises in floods the water is better able to keep going through the river freely, where was if the trees were there it stops the flow.
DeleteIt doesn't necessarily have to rain a lot in the Evandale area, if it rains a lot in other areas the other rivers/creeks flow into the South Esk.
There is a highway that goes very close to the river plus there are a few house further up that look over the river and it can cause some concern to those people in those houses as the water can come up to their doors, so that's why the trees were removed to stop all of that flooding, it helps.

DeleteWhat a shame those lovely trees have gone. Over here they remove lovely trees that are no cause for concern and won't remove ones that are clearly dangerous. We had a friend that was killed by a branch falling off a large eucalypt, really sad. Thanks for showing us the lovely photos.

What is it with this fetish for removing trees? Has no one heard of their intrinsic value, shade, wildlife habitat, carbon storage?

ReplyDeleteI've been out to look when it's flooded and of course the water flows easier than it once did, then again it depends on how much water comes down that river..to me it wasn't necessary but to many it was obviously.
