Holiday March 2020. These photos were taken the day before we left New Norfolk then heading to the 'Left of Field', meaning left of Mt. Field National Park.
It was about this day that we first heard of Covid-19, unfortunately can't recall the date in March.
So the River Derwent is a long one, you can see the boat there through the trees. It's a busy river in season as rowing is done along with water skiing and other water sports.
The below scene is of the parking area near the caravan park and by the River Derwent as next door a new Boat Club has been built with the finishing touches being done whilst we were there.
Another beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is.
DeleteWhat a beautiful location. I like those big trees in the second photo, they give lots of shade.
ReplyDeleteThose trees sure are big and shady.
DeleteAgree with Bill A beautiful place to spend some days Funny those guys out on a big canoe:))
ReplyDeleteWell it's a rowing boat, we have them here in Tasmania, Australia, they are large have have several people rowing in unison.
DeleteSon muy bellas las fotos del río.
ReplyDeleteLa noticia de este virus me llegó a mí, a los pocos días de regresar de un viaje. Desde entonces no he vuelto a viajar a ningún lado.
Besos
Thank you.
DeleteHello hopefully you will travel soon.
Lovely river - my husband was a rower in his youth rather like your last photo, and rather curiously he also rowed on a river called the Derwent.
ReplyDeleteRowing is very popular Rosemary, many schools take part.
DeleteInteresting you husband when younger did that too..probably the River Derwent was named after the one in England as many things in Tasmania are.
wow trees are amazing very big.
ReplyDeleteThey are large trees and give us lots of shade to park.
DeleteYet another glorious spot. Calm and very, very beautiful. When and if your state finally accepts visitors again I would love to go back there.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you can visit someday EC..
DeleteThis is a beautifiul country
ReplyDeleteIt is Jo-Anne and we are very lucky we live here.
DeleteProbably the day we began wondering whether we should cut short our Tasmanian holiday. The river is big and wide at this point.
ReplyDeleteIt is wide there that river.
DeleteWe had only just heard and didn't think about it at that point and was no need to stop going on our journey, same as you.
That canoe looks like a canoe that you would see in the canals of Bangkok!
ReplyDeleteColin
Yes Colin, it's a bit curly at the ends :)
DeleteSuch lovely photos of beautiful Tasmania, it is so very scenic and good that you enjoyed your trip before everything shut down.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky and it was some time after that that Tasmanians were stopped from travelling within the State.
DeleteThose rowers will build up an appetite! I was reading recently that serious, competitive oarsmen consume around 5,000 calories a day!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, that is a lot of calories in a day to use..
DeleteWay Cool Last Photo - Boy, Those Were The Days - Be Thankful That The Donald Isn't Running Your Country Into The Ground

ReplyDeleteVery nice to live there and look at those views everyday.
DeleteWhat a lovely river this looks, fabulous photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
DeleteRow, row, row your boat gently up the stream...oops...river!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Margaret...thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks Lee.
DeleteAlways strange to me how some rivers are called creeks and visa versa.
I like any river, provided it flows smoothly and quietly; no overflowing and no causing of floods.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are of the highest quality!
Thank you Duta.
DeleteIt has flooded there a few times but some years ago..
Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures.
Great to see that big canoe with many participants on board.
Greetings, Marco
Was interesting to watch the racing from a distance Marco, it's a popular sport here.
DeleteThanks.
