The Swans on Lake Dulverton in the town of Oatlands in the midlands of Tasmania.
Was born in Oatlands and moved to Hobart when 7 months old when my late dad joined the Police Force.
On the 1st of March we went from Launceston here in Tasmania my home State for a holiday travelling to some areas of the Island when we had never heard of Covid-19. During this time from the blog High Riser Andrew and his partner were travelling the Island too, we were always in different places at different times which was unfortunate because we never got that chance to meet.
Took our caravan and camped for the first night by Lake Dulverton arriving just after lunch, set everything up and sat on the seat provided and watched the Black Swans.
Amazing creatures to observe.

Beautiful black swans!!And so many!Nice to know about Tasmania and your father as well :))Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot more swans in the lake.
DeleteYou are welcome :)
Has tenido ocasión de ofrecer unas buenas vistas, con tus fotografías.
ReplyDeleteSon francamente hermosos esos cisnes negros.
Besos
They are beautiful, wonderful to watch and lucky I had the time to see their antics.
DeleteThey are truly beautiful birds aren't they (though if they are used to people they can be demanding to the point of aggression).
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame you couldn't meet up with Andrew and his partner. Some other trip perhaps.
Have come across a couple of aggressive black swans in another place in Tasmania, they were used to humans and wanted food, I didn't have any so they took after me looking for food.
DeleteIt was a pity we didn't meet up.
Such gracious birds! and as the saying goes : 'black is beautiful'.
ReplyDeleteThey are majestic.
DeleteThe black swans are lovely - we do have some here, but ours are mostly white.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen about 2 white swans in Tasmania and that was long ago, haven't seen anymore.
DeleteI love these black swans. Super photos Margaret and always enjoyed the map you included again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise, they are wonderful to watch especially when there were so many.
Deletewow great swans
ReplyDeleteYes, Gosia they are.
DeleteSwans are always good. When we set off for Tasmania we knew about the virus but hey, that couldn't possibly affect us. Hell broke loose over the next ten days and all was terribly wrong by the time we nervously returned home. But we are pleased we did have that short holiday. It might be a long time before another one for us.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know when we left home about the virus it wasn't mentioned till a few weeks later, probably you heard about it before we did. Also heard about it whilst we were away but one place we stayed didn't we couldn't get TV/news or any reception so we didn't know what was going on exactly.
DeleteIndeed you were lucky to have been for a holiday before the virus was a problem.
What beautiful creatures
ReplyDeleteIndeed Jo-Anne.
DeleteLovely photos again, the swans are magnificent. You were lucky to get away when you did as everything went wrong after that. Hope you can get away again soon. Stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosie.
DeleteWe were very lucky to go away when we did, hopefully we will travel in Tasmania in spring..
Beautiful black swans and so graceful too. With the caravan, you get to see so many lovely places.
ReplyDeleteWe do get to see lovely places for we can stay as long as we want without a rush to move on.
DeleteA swan and a coot (at least that's what it looks like)! Perhaps the coot is as gracebul as a swan inhis heart. Perhaps the swan is simply a narcissistic clown. Oh my... It's my bed time. ♥
ReplyDeleteThat is a Coot and there are so many there too.
DeleteI must say that the swans are rather funny at times :)
They Have Such Cute Personalities - You Captured More Than Just A Moment Here - Way Cool - Big Hugs Regarding Your Late Father - Stay Strong And Keep The Camera Handy
ReplyDeleteCheers
Each swan is different, they chatter and fight just like we humans.
DeleteThanks.
Thanks Agnieszka.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful black swans, we only see white ones here.
ReplyDeleteMust be nice to see white swans as it is for us to be black ones all the time.
DeleteLos cisnes negros son preciosos, como tus fotografías que quedaron muy bien. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThanks you Teresa.
DeleteWow,they are pretty! I haven't seen them in real life☺
