At Punchbowl Reserve, Launceston

At Punchbowl Reserve once again - took so many photo there, I was in paradise for awhile :)
These photos were taken with the DSLR Nikon..(before I bought the DSRL Canon)

That's a Tasmanian Native Hen, they roam around in the Reserve and seem to be plentiful.
There are different species.

It arrived!

A photo from the other day when all the grass was removed.  Wednesday the new grass arrived as below in rolls on the back of a trailer ready to be place in position.

You just roll it along and place together.
Eldest son on the left and one of his employees.

Nearly finished.
The caravan you see where it's parked on one of the driveways.
With the grass all in place neatly it is rolled and watered, cut after about 6 weeks.

Erlicheer buds, practising with my Canon in Manual mode
You can see where the first Erlicheer has come up on the left at the foot of the steps in the garden.

A touch of Autumn in May.

The Punchbowl Reserve is not very far from home about 10 minutes.  It's a good place to take the children so they can run around look at the ducks and native hens.
Went there earlier this month to see how the autumn colour were progressing so several photos were taken.

The first photo it part of the carpark, then the next one is when you get inside the gate, you see picnic tables, the next photo is the barbecued area and the pond.

In the Country, Tasmania

Not a nice day regarding the weather last Thursday, it was rather chilly so off we took in my Audi as it needed a run and a good one at that so headed for the country about 10 minutes away.  Of course I took my new Canon.

A bit of Woolmers Estate.

On our visit to Woolmers Estate near Longford here in Tasmania took some photos of the area.
Woolmers Estate is a farming one and was founded in 1817 by a grazier and member of parliament Thomas Archer.

A farm house on the property.  There is a rose garden, accommodation, restaurant for the guests. I'm not sure where the accommodation is! However there is a website [ here ]

A house on the property.

This cottage is the Gardner's Cottage.

The pump house.

Interesting fence, have seen a few of these in Tasmania.

The chooks that roam from the Estate came to greet me.

A new bridge below the estate.

At home.

The front yard/garden has been stripped of it's lawn with instant lawn going down later this week, fingers crossed.
The day the deed was done I looked after 5 grandchildren had 3 to sleep from Saturday to Sunday (usual ever second weekend) feed them all and 4 adults for lunch on the Saturday.  I cooked from 11.30am till 2pm, but had a ball.

The photo below is of the second youngest grandchild and she is 6 years old.

The lawn/grass is gone, now wait for instant lawn.

First one out for the season.

Plants in autumn

A few plants growing in our garden and a tree across the road in autumn.

Had two shots on different days taking this miniature daffodils that has just begun to bloom here at home in autumn.  The photo was taken on a windy day so therefore a bit blurred because I didn't used the correct setting, well I at least tried to but didn't pull it off.

Across the road, the Crab Apple in autumn leaves.
The Launceston City Council planted this tree along with several different species of trees on the natures strips, many died due to lack of water (not the households responsibility), many people pulled the trees out as they were not wanted on their nature strip.

In  autumn and spring - the Crab Apple

Autumn in City Park

It is autumn so from the City Park here in Launceston comes some trees that have begun to change their colours.  Pleased these photos were taken last week after driving past yesterday afternoon, the wind had taken it's toll and so many leaves were missing from the trees.

My husband went to take a good look at the tree below and discovered a hot water bottle at the base of it :)

Launceston City Park was established in 1820'a by the Launceston Horticultural Society and then handed over to the Launceston City Council in 1863.
The grounds are beautifully maintained with many events being held there in winter and summer.

A Lake and a Dam

Yesterday was a rainy day but the afternoon was alright towards evening, so we ventured to Trevallyn Dam which was built in 1955. A bush drive along the way with plenty of walking tracks.
Picnic areas in different areas and there is no autumn colours as there are no introduced trees in the area.

Bought a new camera last week, have been on three photo shoots with it.
Got a Canon EOS 750D DSLR this hopefully will compliment my Nikon DSLR 700D which is still ok but getting old.  Always like a challenge when it comes to cameras.
The Canon came with 3 lenses, one tripod and a Canon bag, the deal was too good to be missed.
So I've been out practising with the new Canon..

The dam doesn't look attractive to me but certainly serves a purpose as it provides water for hydroelectricity.

2016 floods with a view of the dam overflowing.

Yesterday's view below taken from the dam across the water to a suburb called Blackstone Heights, Launceston, Tasmania.

The next two photos are of Lake Trevallyn, well I call it that as for researching wasn't fruitful.
The boat ramp is very steep.

A view over the lake.  As far as I'm aware rowing is done on this lake as well as fishing.
