What another delightful town in southern NSW. Population of approx. 6,000 people is the birth place of Sir Donald Bradman a renowned Cricketer of his time as a batsman.
1860 - 1862 many people settled in the town as it was the Gold Rush time, agriculture also became the thing after the mines were depleted.
The morning temperature was -7 degC for the two mornings we stayed in Cootamundra with beautiful sunny crisp days.

ReplyDeleteThe town was ever so neat and tidy, we drove around the streets and the gardens were pleasant, people that live there care about appearance. It's a credit to them all.

DeletePoor, once great, Cootamundra. A booming railway town at one stage for the Riverina district. Now the Syd/Mel expresses stop there and anyone going to once railway line towns have to catch buses!

One of the buses out of Cootamundra goes all the way to Renmark!

Thank God for Don Bradman to have been born there...........that is all "Coota" as it is affectionately known as by the locals and those in that district has to offer. So sad really for all those people who depended on work with the railways.
Actually I can't even recognise that as the rail station!!!
From what side of the station was the photo taken..........town side which would or should show the buses or from the other side???
Wagga Wagga now features as the hospital for the region. There is a huge
hospital there.
