Port Macquarie is a town at the mouth of the Hastings River in New South Wales, Australia. It’s known for its beaches, wildlife and penal colony past. St. Thomas' Anglican Church was built by convicts in the 19th century. A coastal walk from the town centre to the 19th-century Tacking Point Lighthouse offers views over waters home to whales and dolphins.
Once again in Winter 2016 a caravan park was by the Hastings River, this was our view!
Photos of some buildings and beaches plus the lighthouse in Port Macquarie.
Strange but cute lighthouse. Sometimes cloudy, sometimes grey, sometimes very blue.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the weather I expect.
DeleteWe put our penal colonies in some spectacular places didn't we? I doubt it was any consolation to the forced inhabitants though...
ReplyDeleteProbably dreadful for the forced people, most talked of going home but so many never made it.
DeleteBoardwalk!! I love them. Really like the lighthouse and lookout point too.
ReplyDeleteThe sea is so blue there.
Yes! Made for the tourist :) Was a beautiful winter's day, the sea was just unbelievable, so lovely.
DeleteHello. Amazing pictures. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mildred and you have a good week too.
DeleteBeautiful pictures! Love the sites.
ReplyDeleteAnd those stairs.... wow! Great exercise going down to the beach.... and up later on... : )
One would need to flake out as that lady did after walking down all those steps.
DeleteSuch wonderful landscape, and photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteBoa tarde, lindo local com rio e praias, as fotos são lindas, a ultima foto é simplesmente fantastica.
ReplyDeletefeliz semana,
AG
Thank you and just one women sunbaking in the last photo :)
DeleteI'm starting to think you like to visit the beach.
ReplyDeleteYou could be right on that, but then again it's the way we came down the east coast of Australia - sea and more sea.
DeleteVery good shots, especially I like, the 1, 6 and 7 and is that feel a special attraction, for the views of the sea.
ReplyDeleteKisses
The sea views, always are nice.
DeleteI am back.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, I am curious (I know I can search on the net, but I prefer to ask you): what are the most popular destinations (holidays abroad) for Australians? I suppose it depends where you live in Australia.
For instance: if you live in Vancouver, a popular destination may be Hawaii since the flight time is less than 6 hours. If you live in Toronto, it will take you 10 h to get there.
Torontonians like to go to Florida, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic – not very far and reasonably priced. : )
Thanks!
Catarina, many Australians fly to Bali or places over that way, it's relative cheap and not too far. Lots fly to Europe, then there are those that go to the USA and of course Canada.
DeleteDestinations are varied for Australian.
I have been to Port Macquarie many times it is a lovely town
ReplyDeleteNot too far from where you live Jo-Anne.
DeleteYou snapped some lovely blue skies in these shots. It's not so lovely at the moment however - rain, rain, rain.
ReplyDeleteHave a son his wife and their two little ones on the Gold Coast holidaying at the moment, they will be home soon - and yes, I'm told, it has rained and rained :)
DeleteWant to be there! Oh, that's right! It's almost the winter solstice there.... Maybe later.
ReplyDeleteWinter began on July 1, here Bill.
DeleteTasmania in the north is where we live and today is just a perfect winter's day at 15 degC (59F), blue clear sky and sun shinning - no heater needed at the moment with sun coming in the house.
Is Port Macquarie truly as beautiful as your pictures. You do have a talent for bringing out the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin - on that day the sea and sky were just glorious :)
DeleteNo fiddling with the photos either.
that first photo; the way it captures the light; absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you, was beautiful looking each night we stayed there at the sunset on and over the Hastings River.
DeleteLovely stairs. They are really a fitness trainer's dream.
ReplyDeleteTe place, beach and sea is so very beautiful.
Many steps to the beach and back if you go that way.
DeletePure and the beaches, fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful beaches.
DeleteA beautiful beach all to yourself! That sunbather is living the dream!
ReplyDeleteSuper photos of this very pretty area!
Thanks.
DeleteYes, the women down there by herself doing her own thing.
I am going to have to say the first photo is my favourite. Lovely scene that looks so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteTis tranquil the first photo - each night it was like that.
DeleteI've only ever driven through Port Macquarie, unfortunately...and that was years ago.
ReplyDeleteNice place.
DeleteYour first photograph so tranquil.
