On dark dingy wet winter day last year when on holiday in winter we headed to Maryborough in Queensland to see what was there. Rather surprised by all the older buildings so beautifully maintained. Many of these photos were taken from the vehicle as there wasn't anywhere to park! Yes, on a Sunday.
Maryborough is not that far from Hervey Bay where we were staying.
The town/city is approximately 255 kilometers (160 mi) north of the state capital Brisbane.
A Caravan Park down by the Mary River.
Lovely architecture.

Deletebeautiful nice city... nice place to visit...
ReplyDeleteIt was, wouldn't mind going back there to take a better look.
DeleteThe buildings are well maintained. It is quite a wealthy part of the state I think.
ReplyDeleteIt well could be Andrew.
DeleteThose are beautiful old buildings and well-maintained. It's good to see them being used.
ReplyDeleteWould be awful to walk or drive there and see those older building in ruin, so it's a real pleasure to see them in such good shape.
DeleteIt is lovely. As others have said, so well maintained - which can't come cheap. The results are charming though.
ReplyDeleteIt does look lovely and I think with the darkish day, no blaring sun they photograph more to their colour.
DeleteWow, the old buildings are very well maintained.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a nice surprise.
DeleteBloody nice indeed
ReplyDeleteThey are and thanks Jo-Anne.

Thanks for the compliment :)
DeleteThe photos reminds me of photos of our southeast part of united states...Coffee is on
ReplyDeleteGuess it's the pillars on the buildings.
DeleteVery good shots, of those old buildings. I imagine, that the car would go, slowly crossing the streets.
ReplyDeleteKisses
Very slow to get the photos.
DeletePlenty of civic pride in Maryborough.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very rich area on the agricultural side of the economy.
Colin
The city is a credit to them Colin.
DeleteMaryborough certainly does have some lovely old buildings and houses. A lot of history there....
ReplyDeleteThe Mary River that runs through Gympie also runs through Maryborough and empties into the Great Sandy Strait,(the strait between the mainland and Fraser Island) at River Heads, a little south of Hervey Bay. A cousin of my ex lived for many years at River Heads. He's now living in Hervey Bay.
Both Gympie (my hometown) and Maryborough hosted each other's school teams in competition when I was much younger and fitter than I am now! :)
Thanks for the information Lee, most welcome as I could find out a lot about Maryborough on the net - might have been me.
DeleteSo you certainly know the area well then.
It was nice seeing the buildings:)
ReplyDeletePleased you liked.
DeleteThese buildings are really lovely. And the white church towel is so beautiful.
