That's a spectacular building on the hillside. It reminds me of many hillside homes in the San Francisco Bay area, my place of origin. Great tour, Margaret.
That house "on stilts" (??) would by council rules by structurally built as to withstand cyclones in that area. I think after Typhoon Tracey (Darwin) and subsequent FNQ/NT/and Northern Western Australia cyclonic disasters this became an architectural ruling by government authorities.
I don't think I would be living in it anyhow.
Good to see that the people of Townsville observe the Sabbath???? I suspect rather sleeping in or already out in the water, ha ha. Great shots. Cheers Colin
With Cyclone "Debbie" rapidly approaching the area and intensifying that house on the "STILTS" may well be tested, but it should be OK but noway would I like to be weathering a cyclone perched in it - ha ha! Let's hope "Debbie" fizzles out. Colin
Rules and regulations for that house Colin, and it is probably built to withstand a cyclone but then again is it? One could never be sure, anyway it will be tested with the current cyclone heading towards Townsville. Seems Debbie is not going to fizzle out at the moment.
The first photo of the house is amazing. It would make me a little nervous the way it is built! The details in the architecture of the antique shop are gorgeous. Looks like you had lovely weather.
I love the Antiques and Collectables building and would love a wander inside. I hope that first house has enough support, the beams must go underground several metres I guess. I can't say I wouldn't live in it, anything overlooking the ocean is fine with me, but I might prefer that white house to the left.
Would have gone in to see those Antiques and Collectables but being on Sunday, it was closed. Yes, the house on the left, the white one would be alright to live in but not that one of stilts.
That first house, looks like a place I would not like to live in the rest of the photos are awesome hell that photo is awesome I just wouldn't want to live there
Lovely buildings, both old and new. The house in the first photo is very interesting, it would be nice to visit there, but maybe I don't want to live in it.
One more lovely town love from Poland
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure Gosia, probably won't look the best after the cyclone.
DeleteYou have Sundays downunder too?
ReplyDelete(I don't know why that came to me...but once thunk...)
Yes Sundays downunder - all places have Sundays :)
DeleteThat's a spectacular building on the hillside. It reminds me of many hillside homes in the San Francisco Bay area, my place of origin. Great tour, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, houses on hills are a worry if not built well, but there are laws on that.
DeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteEs muy pintoresca, la casa de la primera foto.

Amazing that house, wouldn't like to live in it though.
DeleteI would love to see the view from that house on the cliff. Living in it? Not sure...
ReplyDeleteI couldn't live in it, would always wonder if it was going to fall down the hill.
DeleteTread lightly on the floor of that house and no jumping, children.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely no jumping on anything Andrew.

DeleteSeems Debbie is not going to fizzle out at the moment.
Thank you for the look around
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
DeleteOh my, I don't think I could rest for a minute in the house on a cliff! The owners have more faith than I do.
ReplyDeleteThey do, it looks dangerous and now cyclone Debbie to hit Townsville!
DeleteBeautiful pictures.. but living in a dangling house ?? no way!!
ReplyDeleteMe, no way either.
Deletei love that part of australia although i've never been to townsville. lovely buildings. you have travelled far. i hope you are well. xxx

Looks like you had lovely weather.
Was lovely weather there in winter last year. Now a cyclone is heading towards Townsville and other areas from the Coral Sea.
DeleteThe house on stilts caught my eye. The view must be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWould be wonderful view. Not my cup of tea to live in a house like that though.
DeleteI love the Antiques and Collectables building and would love a wander inside.

Unlike your usual theme, but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA change is different Bob :)
Deleteinteresting house in first photo! Must be quite a view from there.
ReplyDeleteI should imagine it would be an uninterrupted view of the sea.
DeleteThat first house, looks like a place I would not like to live in the rest of the photos are awesome hell that photo is awesome I just wouldn't want to live there
ReplyDeleteTook the house out of the car window, there were people about so was lucky to get a good view of it.
DeleteWouldn't live in it myself.
Lovely buildings, both old and new. The house in the first photo is very interesting, it would be nice to visit there, but maybe I don't want to live in it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I couldn't imagine living in that house. It look like a match box on end!
