Coming around the corner and wow you see this on a slight hill. It certainly catches ones eye.
A little further on there was a lookout, so up we drove to see the view of Hinchinbrook Island. See map below.
Pity about the electricity wires.
Some tropical plants near the caravan at Cardwell, Queensland.
The drive that day from Ayr to Cardwell.
Love those mountains (don't have many of those here in Florida)
ReplyDeleteA cousin said there isn't many.
DeleteThe tropical plants are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIs it Monday? If so..have a good week:)
Yes, it's Monday afternoon Sandra :)
DeleteTime difference is a problem at times..
Thanks.
The figure made me laugh. And I love the second shot--the landscape. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteI went OH! when I saw it, couldn't miss it actually.
DeleteThanks re landscape but it's a beautiful scene.
I do love mango.
ReplyDeleteAnd that view. And the plants. Thank you.
You are welcome.
DeleteLove the big mango and who doesn't like ice cream, my granddaughter Sydney-May that is who.
ReplyDeleteI don't know of a child that doesn't like ice cream and adults are not too far behind either.
Deletecute statue
ReplyDeleteI'm sure when you have children Adam they would love it - ice cream!
DeleteIn the first image, it seems that they are giving us the welcome to the visit of this territory.
ReplyDeleteThe plants are very beautiful.
Kisses
I agree with you..
DeleteThe plants are nice and ones I don't see where I live.
I like the Frosty Mango figure. The landscape would make a fantastic shot if the electric wires were not there. But in a way it is part of the scenery. We have the same problem in some spots in Virginia USA.
ReplyDeleteHe's a cute one that Mango - advertising to say, come we are happy to see you :)
DeleteThere used to be software once that just removed wires from photos, but it was a long time ago and there still could be one available...Guess I could remove them in photoshop but those wires is how it is.
Big Pineapple, Big Banana and now the Big Mango!
ReplyDeleteYes, and the BIG PRAWN...coming much later :)
DeleteI've never had mango ice cream so if I saw the big yellow mango man I would be tempted to stop and try it!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you would enjoy it.
DeleteHave tried in the past I always prefer vanilla ice cream. I'm just a plain Jane when it comes to ice cream.
I suppose the power cables are necessary but they do rather spoil the wonderful view. The mango looks so happy.
ReplyDeleteYes they would be necessary but they do hamper the scenery and then when the trees grow (one is in the way) it probably won't be cut lower, often find this at look outs.
DeleteHappy Mango Man...owners happy too if you stop and buy.
What a happy looking figure he is too!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
He is and excited to see people I expect is the key to having people stop.
DeleteYou certainly scoot alone - 254 Klms in about 3 hours!
ReplyDeleteDid you see on the news that mangoes will be in limited supply
this summer.... maybe you should have stopped for that icecream.
The supply has something to do with the weather when you were up there
in the winter months of down south....the tropics don't have winters.
I think it was to do with the dry season????
Maybe some Aussie reader will recall the news on this mango situation.
Mango flavoured icecreams are one of my favourites and so are the
mango based cheese cakes. Yummy.
Great report and photos
Colin
Can go at a good pace when there isn't much traffic around and not too many windy roads.
DeleteNo never heard about the forecast shortage of Mangoes - I expect the ones being available with be expensive down here.
Rain in winter in the tropics could be the only thing I can think of as there was a fair bit of rain in the dry season!!!
You caught me at the Mango Man. luckily there were great follow-up pictures
ReplyDeleteYou are kind :)
DeleteCertainly a show stopped that Mango Man as we came around the corner - bang, there he was.
mangoes in short supply? say it isn't true. i love mangoes. and i love icecream. what a gorgeous view. i love your travel blogs. hope you are well Margaret
ReplyDeleteThat is what I heard. I expect they will be a bit more expensive due to the supposed shortage..
DeleteAll ok here, thanks...hope at your place too!
That's a cheerful giant mango. What do you mean it's too early for ice cream? What o'clock does ice cream time start anyway. Here in the heat of summer we'd sometimes have ice cream for breakfast, with sliced bananas, lots and lots of bananas.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't come at ice cream in the morning time :) I'm fussy regarding the texture, smoothness plus the taste. I would go without if it isn't to my taste..
DeleteEven in the heat I can't imagine having ice cream for breakfast - icypole yes, just on it's own.
I like your new yellow friend. °(❛ᴗ❛)°
ReplyDeleteCute he is :)
DeleteThe first photo is so cute, and the second one very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice view from the hill looking over to the island.
Deletegreat photos, and so diverse!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteBom dia, apresentação da belas fotos é perfeita, a primeira do alegre amarelo encanta.
ReplyDeleteContinuação de feliz semana,
AG
Thank you - it's good to read you like the photos.
Deleteimpressive Frosty! So lovely green there!
ReplyDeleteWas very green looking of the hills and mountains.
DeleteMy goodness! Is that still operating? I'd forgotten all about it! :)
ReplyDeletePS...And so great to see Hinchinbrook across the channel!
DeleteLot's of people at the Frosty Mango getting icecream.
DeleteBeautiful view to Hinchinbrook.
The big mango another to add to the list. Hope there isn't a shortage because prices will go up.
ReplyDeleteI was told there will be shortage Diane.
DeleteOh, I do love Mango, and ice cream, yummy yummy.
ReplyDeleteLike mango as to eat as a fruit only.
DeleteIs that first picture a mango?
ReplyDeleteSandra, it's supposed to be a mango.
DeleteMargaret, a couple of weeks back you mentioned drive-in movie outlets and the decline of same. I just came across this very recent article and thought it would be of interest to you....
ReplyDeletehttp://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-07/north-queensland-picture-theatre-fighting-decline-of-drive-ins/8101026?pfmredir=sm
Thanks Lee, did visit the link and read it - interesting article about WA drive-ins.
DeleteThe big mango is pretty cute! One of the better "big" things I think.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree, as some of those 'big' things are not so pleasing to the eye.
