There is a Roman Catholic School, Finley Public School and home of the Riverina TAFE. (further education)
We arrived at the Finely Lakeside Caravan Park mid afternoon. It had been a tiring day driving from 6.30am and doing those extra 200km.
Settled in well, the people were inviting and made us feel welcome, we stayed one night.
The entrance to the Caravan Park, Finely NSW
That's the caravan and our 4 wheel drive parked for the night.
Most of the buildings have murals. Different to see in a caravan park.
Beautiful shaped Date Palm Tree.
The map from Melbourne to Finley NSW and you can see Geelong on the left, the mistake detour. The map doesn't show how we got to Finley but it was on the left of Geelong till be reached the blue line before Shepparton.
beautiful murals
ReplyDeleteThere many of them Adam. Lot's had faded, they need doing again.
DeleteReally nice caravan park w with fantastic murals
ReplyDeleteVery peaceful there Gosia.
DeleteThe murals were painted over many year by high school students as part of an art project. I wonderful edition to the town I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that information...they did an excellent job, certainly a nice addition to the town..
DeleteThe murals make very attractive the walls of the parking, with their cheerful colors.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed with the image the ducks on the lake.
Kisses
There were many ducks on the lake and near the lake.
DeleteLove the murals.
ReplyDeleteThe date palm is super impressive too.
The palm is one of the nicest I've seen...I suppose I didn't expect to see it made it more inviting.
DeleteIsn't the train mural good. I hope you van is well insulated, unlike our campervan that too forever to warm once it was cold. We ended up leaving the heating on overnight.
ReplyDeleteIt's excellent Andrew.
DeleteYes the van is insulated, would like to test it in the snow though or freezing winds up in our highlands. Never been cold in the van as yet or the other we used to have years ago.
Oh my, I would wake up too hot, well we both would if we left heating on overnight on a normal trip.
Wow! Was that camera hot. The adventure continues
ReplyDeleteMy good camera is nearly always 'hot' as you put it.
DeleteThe less said about Finley by me the better.
ReplyDeleteGlad you "enjoyed" the town.
Colin
Ps: I may e-mail you on a bit on Finley's ex-residents and one in particular who was sent to "Joeys", Hunter's Hill.
I recall your thoughts on Finley :)
DeleteI think buildings with murals are more interesting to look at. The date palm is so perfectly balanced!
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice looking caravan, is it roomy inside?
Not a lot of room inside the caravan River. Just a small isle between the dinning room/kitchen to the bedroom, then of course enough room in the bathroom. I would have a van that extends out next time, but I doubt that will happen.
DeleteA very pretty area by the looks of it....my kind of place! :)
ReplyDeleteWas pretty in and around the caravan park, there is not a great deal to see at Finely.
DeleteNice paintings on the murals
ReplyDeleteYes Sussi, they are nice.
DeleteWhat a nice caravan park. How does the TAFE school system work? Is it like a high school or college? Is it a school to learn a trade?
ReplyDeleteTAFE stands for Technical and Further Education. It’s a government-run system that provides education after high school in vocational areas, like beauty, design, childcare, accounting, business, recruitment, IT, and many more. While university teaches a broad range of theories, TAFE focuses on specific skills for a particular workplace. For example, a Certificate IV in Aged Care teaches all the skills needed to work in aged care – either at a client’s home or an aged care facility.
DeleteTAFE is usually taught at TAFE Institutes around Australia, although an increasing number of courses are available online.
That is one impressive date palm, the murals are good too.
ReplyDeleteMerle..............
Love that date palm.
DeleteThe murals are interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteIt's good art and practice for those that do it.
DeleteYour car and caravan look like a great holiday unit. That sure was a long drive. The Park looks nice.
ReplyDeleteWas an old park but brightened up by the murals plus the owners were cleaning up and trying to improve the park.
DeleteWhat a wonderful holiday trip. I am also one who enjoys travelling around the country by car.
ReplyDeleteWell you see more if in a vehicle than one would if flying.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots. The paints on the wall are very great. Funny to see the two black swans.
Kind regards,
Marco
Yes, the black swans, we don't often see white ones.
DeleteLovely photos of your trip. I like the map very much.
ReplyDeleteAt least you get an idea of how far we are going at that time.
DeleteThe murals are fun. And I appreciate seeing the map. It helps us non Aussies to picture where you are.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I put a map there, as many don't have a clue how far it is from once place to another, as I wouldn't of your country.
DeleteThose murals are lovely
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Clever artists.
