Ross is a town in the 'Midlands of Tasmania'. These autumn photos were taken last Autumn.
The town is centred on the crossroads of Church and Bridge Streets with a field gun from the Boer War and a war memorial
as a central part of the intersection. The crossroads area is
humorously referred to as the "Four Corners of Ross" with each corner
having a label:
- Temptation. Man O'Ross Hotel (2nd photo)
- Recreation. Town Hall (3rd photo)
- Salvation. Roman Catholic Church (4th photo)
- Damnation. Jail, now a private residency. (Can be seen opposite the Church)

DeleteRoss looks very nice, especially in the flattering autumn light. Strange how 'Town' used to be appended to the name of town and almost always with Hobart.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will want to go through Ross Jo-Anne, there is a Caravan park there by the bridge. A must try will be Vanilla slices from the Bakery..

It looks lovely. And the War Memorial in the centre of town reminds me of so many country towns in NSW. I assume the names of all those from the area who were lost to war is on it. Probably stopping at the second World War.

I like the old buildings and I liked the easy lifestyle in Tasmania but just a tad to cold for me.

Real easy lifestyle for me here. Can always take your own vehicle and park somewhere, even at the Airport and you don't have to walk forever to get to the door either.

Most corners in towns or cities in the shopping area have names.
DeleteWe have Myers corner, Coles corner here in the city.

Only a small footpath to walk on the bridge, but it's ok as I have done it many times.
