After Clare, SA we went through Gawler and no photos of that town due to no where to park, plus it was raining. Headed towards Mannum, SA through the Barossa Valley Wine Region.
Photos below are of some of the things we saw.
Some photo were taken from inside the vehicle as we travelled.
Gum Trees
This area was hilly but lovely scenery.
There was a lookout on Randell Road in Pleasant Valley.
A weed, but I thought it was pretty.
Further down the road we came across these painted stone.
I have put the black dots on the road we came from Clare.
Enjoyed all. But must say I loved those cool trees. (yeah, I'm a bit of a tree hugger)
ReplyDeleteA tree hugger. We have plenty of tree hugger's here in Tasmania :) They stop most things from being built.
Deletedespite the pictures taken in your vehicle, it is very well!
ReplyDeleteI like the first, superb !! .... Oh yes, it rains in Australia? haha ;)
Yes it does rain in Australia, sometimes it's rare depends on which part of the country you are in.
DeleteThe painted rocks are fun, for sure. I absolutely love your header with the lavender. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks re header. It's been there all summer :) (your winter)
DeleteI'll be changing it soon to an autumn one.
These are wonderful from-the-car shots. Marvelous trees, and bizarre painted stones.
ReplyDeleteOccasionally see stones painted which is ok by me.
DeleteSometimes the photos from the car come out ok, other times not so good. Hit and miss!
I especially like the first , that first plane of the road which adorns on its shore those beautiful trees.
ReplyDeletekisses
They are wonderful trees, branches cut back keep them out of harms way for the vehicles that travel that road.
DeleteThat is an interesting route you and "Shanks" took, still in much of the vineyard country - Mt. Pleasant etc.
ReplyDeleteI recognise plenty of winery names from the en-route towns.
Got a wry (??) grin when I noted GAWLER on the travel route!
Hope you waved to "you know who if you saw him"??
Interesting to see the rocks in the countryside - obviously remnants of
volcanic activity millions of years ago.
Some "Viewers" take a bloody long time to notice the Lavender field heading, as it has been there for ages and has absolutely NOTHING to do with this trip - ha ha!!!! ????
As you now on this trip back onto the Murray, I bet "Shanks is chafing at the Bit" to get home.
Cheers
Colin
We didn't see any vineyards along that route, I expect they were further from the road behind those hills.
DeleteGawler! Goodness, yes we do know who lives there :)
So much of Australia's landscape is from the volcanic eruption from millions of years ago. I was reading about that some time ago.
When one gets further towards Melbourne it's only so many days or sleeps left...still more travelling from last years holiday.
woow what a great landscape.Madstrerpiece of nature...
ReplyDeleteNature at one of it's best Gosia.
DeleteThank you for sharing this scenic post
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
DeleteSuch a pretty area.
ReplyDeleteIt was Cynthia. After all the travel on that trip last year it was good to have a view on top of a hill, and to see the green hills.
DeleteNice, I like to take photos of scenery when we are travelling
ReplyDeleteThat's good Jo-Anne, you must have lots to show us from the lovely places you have travelled.
DeleteSomeone has a great sense of humour and is very creative to paint those rocks.
ReplyDeleteIt is very creative and also not to get caught is another thing.
DeleteThere is something about the white gums, they have them in some parts of America when I was over there always felt like home to see and smell them.
ReplyDeleteMerle.........
Nothing like the smell of any species of gumtree Merle, love walking through the bush.
DeleteSooooo green.
ReplyDeleteLove the painted stones, and the quintessential gum lined road.
Those gums do looks good and was wonderful to drive with them on either side of the road. Doesn't always happen.
DeleteI remember those painted stones, there used to be more of them, maybe the paint wore off over time.
ReplyDeleteThe pretty weed looks like spurge, it grows here in town in bush form and looks quite nice.
LOVE the gums lining the road.
Oh really. I bet they looked good, the painted rocks.
DeleteMy husband knows what the weed is but wasn't about at time of me posting this post to ask him.
looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's different and so therefore good to be able to have seen it.
Deletevisiting not you is a quite loss dear ,these photos are really food for eye and soul ,best wishes
ReplyDeleteThank you Baili...Best Wishes to you too.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of this wonderful landscape.
A great area to be.
Many greetings,
Marco
Lovely driving down there last year, so very different from where we had been when you didn't see one blade of grass.
DeleteEine schöne grüne Landschaft und Bäume.
ReplyDeleteGruß
Noke
Was lovely and green, I expect in summer it's not.
DeleteThe pictures are beautiful, the one that smiles, is my favourite, I love it, I am daft.
ReplyDeleteSomething different to see along our then travels was the rock. The other one was an elephant I think.
DeleteLove the gum trees!
ReplyDeleteThey are good ones.
DeleteThose ghost gums are just magnificent.
ReplyDeleteThey are nice, and you have a name for them that I haven't heard of.
DeleteI don't know where this week has disappeared to...it's flown by so quickly. Here it is...Friday again already and I'm only now just catching up on your posts, Margaret. Sorry for being so slack.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful array of photos...I'm glad I've now caught up. Thanks for sharing. :)
Soon be Christmas :) Time sure does fly!
