The Renmark Area in South Australia.

Cool mornings at Renmark but the days were beautiful with the sun shining warming ones bones.
This is where I first used the washing machine in the caravan, and it was bliss.

The caravan park we stayed in was really wonderful.  A selection of photos I have chosen to view, at times it was difficult to select. 'which one'.

Renmark is on the banks of the Murray River, plenty of houses boats to have a holiday in if one wishes.  It's a rural town 31 meters above sea level.
Just out of Renmark many vineyards and a few mandarins on the trees, ready to be picked.

A maintenance man in the caravan park.

That's our van, the doors the otherside.

A sunset from the caravan park.

A few house boats on the right in the distance.

In the town these fountains of a different type.  One can walk all the way around on a footpath with grass on one side and water on the other.

The Renmark Hotel, the Murray River behind the grass.

A closer view of a houseboat.

  2. I like the fountain and the hotel is very large and I think there are a few such hotels spread along the Murray.

  3. Well I was WRONG!
It is/was the Remark Hotel which has/had the longest bar.

Sure has an interesting history this hotel. Well worth a trip down Australian hotel
history to read about this establishment.
Thanks for showing me the "visitors" cabins, I will know all about them in two weeks time.
The house boats look pretty attractive to live in.
    Interesting report on Remark.

  5. It's funny how those things that we forget make our lives so much easier - such as washing machines - are appreciated so much more when we travel.

  6. Love those fountains. And the sunset.
I remember swapping a bottle of cognac (which neither of us liked) for our first washing machine. We got the better end of the deal. Moving away from hand washing and laundromats was blissful.

    1. Good to see something different for a change.
One sheet at a time with the little washing machine...only takes 38 minutes to do a load. It does wash clean.

  9. I LOVE those fountains!
The houseboats look very nice, I've always wanted to holiday on one.
Not sure Angel would enjoy it though. Surrounded by water is not a cat's idea of heaven.

    1. Those houses are Cabins :) They are not made of wood, and we call them Cabins. Majority of Caravan Parks in Australia have some.

    1. It did just fine. That photo was taken on the way up to Darwin, a long way from Renmark. However, the caravan looks just the same - thank goodness :)

  13. Haven't caravans come a long way from what they started out like, days when you had a gas hot plate and a tiny fridge and forget about tv's and toilets and showers or washing machines in a caravan

    1. Jo-Anne, so much different from what I have seen in the past...no. there was nothing and the caravan parks were not the best back then either. Not that I travelled in a caravan way back.

  14. Margaret, your photos are wonderful, and I love the fountains, water and reflections! You didn't like my rat video, eh? LOL! :) I am smiling because I used to have a pet rat years ago and I called him Mickey. The reason I chose Mickey for a name is because everyone is familiar with Mickey Mouse, so here he was...Mickey Rat! They are very sociable and intelligent, actually. The ones to fear more are the hamsters, as they are more likely to bite than rats or gerbils.

No i don't like rats as i only know of one kind, when cornered they bite and attack...your pet must have been very different...
