Glebe Garden is not far from the city of Launceston. It's a garden center and these photos are a few items that are sold there - more to come including the plants later.
Someone people have creative minds. The elephant greets my friend and I near the front door. We went to have a cup of coffee in the Cafe there. All these were carved/made with wood.
Those carvings are amazing, beautiful work by some talented artists.

ReplyDeleteWunderschön sind die hölzernen Kunstwerke. Besonders schön sind die Pferdeköpfe auf dem obigen Bild. Doch besonders interessant ist das letzte Bild. Die Tiere scheinen aus Teibholz gefertigt zu sein.

ReplyDeleteThese wood carvings etc, remind me of my youth when I went to a wine and tourism town where German settlers migrated to - they were either Lutheran or Catholic.
ReplyDeleteFantastic restaurants with food, beer and wine that were of the "HAVE ME MORE BUT TAKE CARE" (ha ha) - I wobbled quite a lot and some of these German residents were in the Hospital system in New Guinea - especially the German pre-WW1 settlers
in the Morobe, Madang, New Britain (once New Germany) and the Sepik.
My tennis partner was the Doctor at Buganbi Hospital. - Dr. Mary Frinch - spelling ???
It was the TB hospital - you can google the doctor and her excellent book on her
time in Finschhafen/Buganbi area. Ah the history there - even the old ex-German Colonial Governor - used WW2 by the Japanese General in charge of this area.
I have flown over what became SCARLET Beach - you should see the results - the Yanks TRIED to land there - told by the native guides of the Japanese - of course the
Yanks knew BETTER - utter carnage - ships, tanks, submarines, can be seen - now a scared area - Flown over only!
AH YES - memories of my days in the land of the "FUZZIE_ WUZZIES".
The good, the bad, the ugly but what memories!
