Clifton Beach in Queensland is in the tropics approximately 22 km north of the city of Cairns. It's also known as the local beach of Cairns even though Cairns is by the sea there is no beach there.
The photos show the sign and do enlarge it for it has much information. We have the pathway, and the Vinegar one needs to place on a sting from a stinger if you are unlucky enough to get strung. In the winter time you don't often see any nasties at the beach or in the water but just in case it's best not to go into the sea. The vinegar always remains in that red post, no one removes it and it always has vinegar in it, always. There are nets in the sea to help keep them out.
I stood in an ant nest under one of those trees and of course ants were climbing up my legs, makes me shudder to think of it. There was one big dash to remove them to move away further to the sea.
In the photos you can see a few Islands, Double Island, Haycock Island and Green Island.
Beautiful place! Will vinegar help?
ReplyDeleteYes Anne. Answer from the internet: *nematocysts (stinging cells) on the skin, preventing them from releasing more venom. It is highly effective as an immediate treatment for tropical, Box jellyfish, and Irukandji stings by "locking" the stinging cells to stop further envenomation*

I když je vzduch příjemně prohřátý na 28.3 °C a moře láká svou teplotou 27.1 °C ke koupání, obloha zůstává převážně pod mrakem. Hlavním faktorem, který může znepříjemnit odpočinek na písku, je silnější vítr, který zvedá vlny a může být místy nepříjemně nárazový. Pokud se přesto vydáte k vodě, nezapomeňte na kvalitní ochranu proti slunci, protože UV index dosahuje hodnoty 8.3, což znamená vysoké riziko spálení i při oblačné obloze. Podmínky pro plavání jsou vzhledem k vlnobití náročnější, proto buďte při vstupu do vody opatrní a sledujte aktuální situaci na místě.
Velmi zajímavé, protože u nás začíná jaro, noční teploty 2°C, denní asi 8°C.
How wonderful you looked the beach up - it's amazing what you can find. Autumn here and up there in the tropics as you have noted it's cloudy and still warm. Did you know that there is a Clifton Beach in Tasmania too but of course it's cooler down there :)

ReplyDeleteYes it's a wide one and certainly a lot of room to move around in. Not that many people there in winter though as the locals would be too cold...lol even if the temperature was 28 to 35 Deg C, and of course the humidity would be much lower in the wintertime.

ReplyDeleteOh yes, Hels it sure does. We have to remember the winds, then there are the cyclones or the edge of the cyclones the come that way sometimes in late summer. Aways get windy with rough surf by the sea many times no matter where.

Margaret imagined the moment of desperation when seeing ants walking on your feet. I had that when I was little. Playing, we would hide behind the trees without noticing that there were red ants that bite.

Es curioso que Clifton Beach sea 'la playa de Cairns' a pesar de la distancia; se nota que merece la pena el viaje. Gracias por el aviso del vinagre y las redes, es un recordatorio de que en Australia la naturaleza siempre tiene la última palabra. ¡Menos mal que el paisaje compensa los sustos!

The feeling of those ants was not so good, they move so fast, but all ended well, Jordi. Cairns has the sea but certainly not a beach, the sea there is mud under the sea water which is a pity and when the tide is out it's not so pretty.
DeleteI believe we in Australia are used to our creature and treat them with respect. Many people in Australia have no idea what happens in the tropics exactly especially if they live in the southern area of Australia's States.
