We've been many times to Barron Falls near Cairns in Queensland, Australia. It's a very long way from home here in Launceston, Tasmania, 3,429 km. Cairns is in the tropics on the Eastern side of Australia. There is only one photo that I've shown before in past posts and that was in 2017, so many years have passed since then.
Barron Falls is a steep tiered cascade waterfall in Kuranda, Queensland. The falls are created by the Barron River descending from the Atherton Tablelands to the Cairns coastal plain.
You can travel there via Skyrail, Train or your own vehicle and take many of the walks in that area. We always had a good time when there and always finding a different path with different views.

Barron Falls is a beautiful place to visit. If I were to visit it, I would choose to travel by that lovely yellow train ๐๐๐๐๐๐ Great post, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteMany used the train, Giorgio and it's beautiful at the falls and surrounds.
DeleteLooks like it's a great place to visit. I will try to visit Barron Falls when I visit Australia next.
ReplyDeleteLovely up there at the falls and surrounds, I'm sure you would enjoy the walk around.
DeleteNot sure I want to take the train to visit the Fall, as it doesn't look very stable to me :-))
ReplyDeleteThe trains is good so I'm told but the skyrail may not be real stable if there is a bit of wind about, and I'm told if too windy the skyrail doesn't go.
DeleteI am not familiar with the area, but I like the idea of the falls descending from the upper tablelands to the coastal land way below. Great site for a hydro power station.
ReplyDeleteWhere do the workers live?
The maintenance people live in Cairns or Kuranda , Hels. Lovely area up there at the falls and the tablelands.
DeleteMargaret, we know so little about Australia around here. There isn't much advertising about tours. It's a region I would like to get to know.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Advertising isn't done for the northern/tropic area in the summer here due to cyclones and rains in the wet season as up there, there is only two season, dry and wet. I suppose a travel agents would be the best bet on knowing more about travel to Australia - anywhere in Australia.
DeleteThe Barron Falls look very beautiful. Such waterfalls are truly a gem in the landscape. Rafting looks fun, but it is also dangerous. Several people have drowned here in Norway because of rafting. Take care, and enjoy your summer days.
ReplyDeleteRafting can be such a dangerous sport and we have rafting down here on the Island too, way down south in particular. That's sad about the people that pass on whilst having fun, Marit.
DeleteIn the fifth picture I suddenly imagined Tarzan swinging on those vines. It looks like a great place to visit.
ReplyDeleteLol, yes R those vines so do remind you of something like that :)
DeleteGorgeous falls!
ReplyDeleteLooks magic during the wet season.
DeleteAbsolutely stunning captures of Barron Falls. Thank you for sharing, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Linda.
DeleteThank you so much, dear Margaret, that was a wonderful trip. It's truly a joy to browse the blogosphere and discover such beautiful landscapes.
ReplyDeleteThank you also for the card.
Warmest regards. Viola
P.S.: There's still snow here, but I bought a bouquet of daffodils. They're now in a vase on my table and are blooming one after the other… gorgeous yellow. Spring isn't far off now…
You are welcome Viola. How lovely it must be to see spring at your home with those daffodils on your table, won't be long and spring will be with you. Keep warm.
DeleteWow che bello e poi c'รจ anche il trenino.
ReplyDeleteTroppo bello
A good train ride I'm told.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteNice pictures you have made. So nice to the wonderful places of nature.
And what a fantastic picture of that train.
It looks very impressive. I love it, because I'm a cargo train driver in the Netherlands.
Many greetings,
Marco
Oh you drive cargo trains, wow - so you would be interested in the train photo :) I believe that train in the picture was restored at some point.
DeleteThank you, Marco.
It's a nice way to spend a day. I've only seen Barron Falls with a low volume of water but it is quite a drop. I remember the building but I didn't know it was a hydro plant.
ReplyDeleteLovely place to spend a day up there, Andrew. I think it depends where you park the car as to whether you get to see the Hyrdo building. If on the train or skyrail you probably can't see it.
DeleteI've seen photos of the water fall with much more water coming down in the wet season.
Beautiful falls. A train ride would be a nice way to see that area, just sit back and enjoy the journey.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly right, Bill. Everyone we talked to enjoyed their train ride up there to the falls which has a good platforms to view several scenes there.
DeleteThat train trip up is great with the stopover where plenty of water is crashing down.
ReplyDeleteThe small shopping / souvenir shops are great and expensive!
There is a nudist colony are up there - you don't strip they strip you - ha ha.
You can come back down in those cable cars and pray no break down !
Plenty of fun and games in my wicked youth up there with former college mates
who retired to Cairns etc.
Cheers
Colin
PS: At last lovely weather up here and the brats are back at school !!!
Oh you do make me laugh and of course there would a nudists up there, why didn't I think of that! Colin.
DeleteYes, I bet you had heaps of fun when younger, and oh they were the days.
A train ride and those beautiful falls ... wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Lovely scenery up here, Jan.
DeleteMe enamore de las cataratas. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you, J.P.
DeleteThat looks very nice. I would visit it one day
ReplyDeleteCertainly worth the visit.
DeleteThat is a stunning part of the world
