I've mentioned before that I'm not a great book reader the main reason is if I pick up a book I read it until I've finished it and nothing gets done in the house. Sometimes I get my husband to call me to put the book away and begrudgingly I will. I occasionally will purchase a paper book.
I bought an eReader a Kindle back in 2010 or 2011 my first one and now I bought another this week, a Kindle Paper White Signature Edition brought out in 2024. I'm reading the Virginia Roberts Giuffre book, Nobody's Girl. Loving it.
My old Kindle below.
My new Kindle below and so improved with the Kindle case.
Yes, I like to have a Bible on my Kindle. I've only got a sample yet.

It's fun to read and digital is fun too. I do both, real books and digital. Barnes has deals on five dollar fiction books at the cafe and I'm enjoying that one right now. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Five dollar book sound ok to me.
DeleteMe too! I ended up getting the Christmas mystery for the same deal, last night at the cafe.
DeleteI understand what you mean, because some books are hard to put down. I prefer paper books, because I can read them in bed. That book "Nobody's Girl" is probably a very moving book, but I don't know if I can bear to read it. Her story is as tragic as it gets. Your new Kindle looks really great!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone else is like me when reading.
DeleteI'm not finding 'Nobody's Girl' too moving, it's interesting and keeps me interested in reading the next page. I'm not appalled by what she was made to do for I guess I expected what I've read so far.
Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne.
DeleteI have a Kobo, but read mostly on my tablet and on my phone. I have been reading digital books forever. : )
ReplyDeleteWill see if the library have some of those books. I love romances.
I've heard they are good too. Nobody's Child is a new release. I prefer romances and I've just transferred a few books from my old Kindle to my new Kindle as my old Kindle will not go to the Kindle Store anymore because they have stopped supporting it.
DeleteI have never had or used a Kindle. Thank you for sharing this ❤️
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. Just as easy to read a paper book, not absolutely necessary but handy for various reason having a Kindle.
DeleteI have that same old Kindle! I still use it all the time and I love it. One day I will get a new Kindle when this one stops working.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Mary...lol It's amazing how long they last and the battery is still rather good. I got one because my old Kindle will not connect to the Store anymore as they have stopped supporting that down here.
DeleteYour new Kindle is a worthy upgrade, and it’s lovely to hear how fully you can lose yourself in a good book
ReplyDeleteOh thank you, I lose myself completely, I seem to switch off to other happenings around me.
DeleteMy original, probably the same age as yours, died in less than ten years. I bought a new one second hand. It was so much heavier and I wondered why until I carried it into a dark room while still on, and it had a lit screen. The weight would mostly be heavier batteries. I have that for quite a few years now and it is great, and far cheaper than the brand new one was.
ReplyDeleteYes a second hand one like you got sounds ok. Mine is very light to hold and good to read outside.
DeleteEs muy lindo yo aun tengo mi vieja tablet que la uso como lector. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOh ok. Thank you, same to you too.
DeletePleased you are enjoying your new kindle.
ReplyDeleteI've never had one.
I do enjoy sitting reading with a book in hand.
Have a lovely weekend.
All the best Jan
Always good to have a paper book too, Jan, I use both.
DeleteA lot of my friends use kindle but I still prefer real books especially for reading in bed.
ReplyDeleteFair enough Diane, each to his own. Just handy is the Kindle and I never read in bed. I'm asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. Yes, I'm thankful for that.
DeleteYour old kindle is exactly like mine, except mine has a cover and has been dropped a time or two and the top left corner now has a diagonal line across it and the first two letters of any words have to be guessed at. I would like to buy a new one but only if I can transfer all the current 407 books that I have on it. I still read real books, often alternating with one kindle story, then a real book, then the kindle and so on.
ReplyDeleteMy old Kindle has a black leather cover and yes, I've just tonight transferred some of my books from the old Kindle to the new one...so Yes it can be done.
DeleteGood idea how you read, one book then Kindle and so on. I find if sitting outside with a bit of a breeze, Kindle is easier for me to manage.
I notice also that your "index" is pictorial, while mine is a list of the books by title and author. Can you change to a list or is it always pictorial? Because I wouldn't like that.
ReplyDeleteThe new one shows the covers, the old one has a list of the books as you have said. I think it's always pictorial but I've gotten used to that as to me it's just another way to look at your books.
DeleteI had this Kindle before...eReader is practical, though I still love paper books.
ReplyDeleteOh did you have one too...:) Yes, like you I still like a paper book every now and then.
DeleteHi Margaret,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're enjoying your new Kindle.
I always read paper books.
Have a nice weekend.
Best regards Irma
Thank you Irma. Always nice to have a paper book too.
DeleteHá quem prefira, como eu, a presença do livro nas mãos.
ReplyDeleteEm todo o caso desejo-lhe boas leituras.
Bom fim de semana.
Abraço de amizade.
Juvenal Nunes
Thank you. We will never not have a paper book in our hands.
DeleteDid you know that Virginia Giuffre was an Australian citizen, living north of Perth. Now I will have to read the book myself.
ReplyDeleteYes I did know Hels, also lived in NSW, then the US for awhile before returning to Australia. The book is interesting, well to me it is.
DeleteI am still an old-fashioned reader of paper books. I doubt that I will read the Virginia Giuffre book, but her story is constant TV fodder these days. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with paper books, I still buy one every now and then.
DeleteWe don't hear of Virginia down here anymore.
I like both, real paper books and digital.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
Both is good, digital for certain occasions and places and same for the paper books.
DeleteI'm also like you, when I start reading a book I forget everything. Until now I've only read paper books, I've never tried digital.
ReplyDeleteYour new Kindle is very beautiful.
Have a wonderful weekend
The Kindle is good for certain places, It will fit in a bag which is handy.
DeleteAnche io adoro leggere e se il libro mi prende riuscire a smettere è quasi impossibile.
ReplyDeleteNon ho mai letto nulla sul Kindle, preferisco sempre il cartaceo.
Buona lettura
The book has to grab me fairly early like a movie or a TV series.
DeleteI like my Kindle Paper White. It's small and light weight, and the battery lasts a good long while. I also like to read sometimes on my ipad. But mostly I'm into audio books because I can listen while doing things around the house, like laundry, fixing dinner etc. I finished Nobody's Girl very quickly because her story is so compelling. And there were so many people waiting on the book through Libby I wanted to hurry the book on it's way so someone else could read it. Now more then ever I want all the files to be released. It's long over due to hold this disgusting men accountable.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space What's your take, do you think she was killed or do you think she committed suicide? I've been interested in many comments people who've read it and listened to pod casts etc have on the subject. I tend to think someone got to her.
I read on my iPad at times too, Sandi.
DeleteI'm 3/4 the way through the book and you and other could be correct when you say she might have been killed. Remember the car that was watching her house in the USA up the driveway when her husband had returned to Sydney because his father was not well? Anything is possible and hopefully all the documents/files will be released very soon.
I'm the same way; I start strong but then I get more into painting. I'm curious about reading, but I never quite get hooked.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Regards.
Sometimes during a day there isn't a lot of time for one's passion no matter what that passion is, and yes, it's got to grab you early.
DeleteThats fantastic! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I will enjoy and am..
DeleteA mí, el libro electrónico me viene brindado muchos momentos de placer...
ReplyDeleteUn saludo, amiga
That is good to hear.
DeleteTake care.
Many years back I had an Ereader it wasn't a Kindle can't remember what brand it was, when I first got it I used it a lot but for some reason stopped using it
ReplyDeleteOften the way with new things, Jo-Anne you probably got busy doing other things.
DeleteIt's a cool device, but I prefer paper books.
ReplyDeleteBest regards, and please check out my new painting :)
Me alegra que disfrute de tu nuevo Kindle, mis hijas intentaron regalarme uno, pero no las dejé prefiero mis libros de papel. Un abrazo Margaret.
ReplyDeleteAhhh a new Kindle is the best kind of treat! 📚✨ The Paperwhite Signature is such a lovely upgrade, enjoy getting lost in your stories. And the new case is adorable!
ReplyDeleteDear Margaret 🥰
ReplyDeleteCongrats for your new kindle edition 🤗
It looks almost one eldest son had bought for me few years ago.
I so agree on this reading style of yours because I am also do the same and leaving reading behind seems impossible for me 🥰
I hope you will have your bible soon 🙏♥️
Very nice. I wish I could use a kindle, my eyes are not good for it. I do audio books. However, this is a fine Kindle. You will get lots of use with it.
