Inside

These photos were sent to me by the eldest son whilst he and his wife were in Sydney this week.  They went to two concerts, Metallica and Opeth, not my type of music.  I've never been or seen inside the Sydney Opera House myself, so it was pleasing to receive these photos and share them.
Inside looks amazing and filling up with people in readiness for the concert to begin, the Opeth one.

  1. Not my kind of music either, and I wouldn't want to be compressed in there with so many people, either. I think COVID isolation reinforced that. I have fond memories of seeing the Opera House, however, although, like you, I never went inside.

    1. Well we wonder about Covid still when out in an area like that, David. If we wondered too much we wouldn't go anywhere where there were people.

  3. Margaret, on the tours, they always offer tourists the chance to visit that iconic place. It often happens that a local prefers to know other places and doesn't give importance to what they have.

  4. Hi Margaret, it isn't my type of music, either. The opera house is beautiful.

    1. Yes it is good as I had no idea what it looked like inside as many of us don't, or didn't.

  8. We took a back stage tour of the Opera House in the 80s, but of course I can't remember any of it now, so it is nice to see it now. It is hard to imagine Metallica playing in the Opera House.

    1. Unfortunately, we can't remember everything we see, Andrew. Good you went there though as you can say yes where as I can't. Metallica we at Accor Stadium, and the other band/group at the Opera House. By the way, Richard loved the public transport there in Sydney, so easy he said.

  9. One of the architectural wonders of the world and certainly caused a lot of debate when it was submitted by the the Dane architect - Jorn Utzon.
And if you decide to eat there in the front restaurant overlooking Pinchgut, make sure you have plenty on your card and tablets to prevent heart failure!!
I have never got to that little "fort" - Pinchgut. Quite something to visit apparently
    with the history of it.
    Cheers
Nice and sunny here in Terrigal and still young schoolkids on the beach - apparently learning junior surf life saving methods.
One of the bus driver's brothers is a senior life guard on the beach
and the young driver is a guard on his days off - they come from BALI !!!
They take one young kid out and the speed boat stays close in case of sharks
and then four juniors swim out to "rescue" the swimmer and bring him/her
back to the beach and do the "reviving" business. Very good I think.
    BE PREPARED , eh?

    1. Sounds good what the guards do then, Colin.
Beautiful Opera House though I thought it looks weird at first way back but am used to it now.
Sunny day here today and the weekend looks promising.

  11. Thanks for sharing these! The Sydney Opera House always looks incredible, and it’s so fun to get a peek inside—even if the music isn’t your style. The crowd and atmosphere really make it come alive!

    1. How true, a live concert does make the building come alive, and son even sent me a small video of the group to listen too whilst he was there, nice of him I though seeing that I don't care for that type of music - he was rubbing it in..lol

  12. When the Sydney Opera House was first built, I didn't necessarily admire the external structure. But over the years, the total image has become the heart of the city's identity and the location is still brilliant.

  13. It does look amazing inside. I've floated past the exterior on a ferry cruise around the harbour.

  15. Hi Margaret,
Beautiful photos of the Sydney Opera House.
It looks like it can hold quite a few people.
It's not my favorite music either, I would never go there.
    Have a wonderful Thursday evening.
    Greetings Irma

I believe there are several theatres there so it would in total hold many people.

    2. I just looked it up how many people in total the Opera House holds....
The Sydney Opera House can fit up to 5,738 people in total across all its venues, but capacity varies by performance space. The largest, the Concert Hall, seats up to 2,679 people, while the Joan Sutherland Theatre seats up to 1,507. The Forecourt can accommodate up to 6,000 people for standing-room-only events.

  18. Hello Margaret,
Great pictures. Fantastic to get a look inside in this famous Opera house.
I have a DVD of Simply Red in that Opera house. It's a wonderful kind of art.

I think the visit of this concert must be special and he must have liked it and had a great time.

    Many greetings,
    Marco
