Goomeri, Queensland

It's two weeks since I had my right cataract done I'm to have the left eye done on January 6, 2020.

On the road to Goomeri, Queensland a small rural town.  The town is only a small one with just under 700 people.  Goomeri is not far from Gympie and a bit further from Brisbane Queensland, about 180 klms.

We stayed at the showgrounds where there is a caretaker to take the money and see that all is well with everyone.  There is power and water plus showers and toilets, we stayed one night then moved on.
Opposite the showgrounds is a service station and food where many trucks stop to get something to eat then move on.  Attached to the service station is a caravan park but it appears not many stop there.
Goodmeri is pronunced 'Goo merry'.

  5. I do hope that your cataract surgery went well and your eyesight has improved...
My good wishes for your second surgery in January.

I did enjoy seeing the photographs here, and I agree with Bill … that truck does seem very long.

    All the best Jan

  6. Appears eye one went OK. I'm sure eye 2 will be the same.

That 'long truck' appears to be a cattle "truck/train" as they are sometimes called.
The Gympie area is not on my now return visit list. I'll refrain from details!!!!
Sure looks dry in that area as shown in photo #1.

    1. Yes eye ok Colin. It's always a concern for me my eyes seeing as my late dad was legally blind for years. I don't worry about it though.
Dry along there too and I notice the grass has been cut along the side of the road, so often we came across such long dry grass on side of road and in the paddocks sometimes the paddocks just dirt with dust..

  11. I wouldn't have guessed how to pronounce Goodmeri. I guess your eye is ok or we wouldn't be reading this.

    1. Well we used to pronounce Goodmeri a different way until we were correct rather abruptly :) many names of town we think are said they way we say them but turn out to be totally different Biloela is another one.
I need glasses to read with but hopefully when the other eye is done won't need for distance, even though I've said that I have stopped wearing my glasses because I can see better at the moment for distance without them.
Was hard to blog and read after the first day of operation but I managed :)

  12. I've had both eyes done, plus a partial cornea transplant in one. It's great what they can do now. I need glasses to read, but otherwise I can see almost as well as when I was a kid. I do have to remember to wash my glasses though...

    1. Well there you are, it's not that far away for you but it's often the way.
A man in a visitors centre there to help in some town hadn't been to the next one ever in his life, I found that to be rather amazing and amusing.
