Biloela, Queensland.

Biloela had open cut mines then went into agriculture.  There are about 5,800 people in the Shire.
Water is a problem for the area so a dam was begun in 1963 called Callide Dam and Power Station but due to low rain fall the dam is hardly ever full.

The pool and eating area at the Caravan Park.

Shopping area, supermarket opposite which was lovely.

The below photo is dry creek.

  1. Water is an issue in so much of Australia.
I am glad that the area got out of open-cut mines, but agriculture has its own problems. Not an easy life.

    1. Hot and dry there in Biloela. Certainly a problem is water in many areas of Australia.

  5. Conservative politicians often want to build dams, against greenie opposition, but dams are no use if it does not rain.

    1. Oh, you have Target in yours then, never seen a photo of one or heard of it.
We have Target in major towns and cities and Target Country in the country - I expect that makes a bit of sense.

  8. La falta de agua es un grave problema, si no hay lluvias no se pueden llenar los embalses.

    1. That's exactly correct. If it does rain there it rains a lot in a short time.

  9. My, that's a small Target store! Somebody needs to figure out a way to make desalinization cheap and easy. We could suck up all that rising water from climate change. Another interesting post!

    1. Yes a country town Target, they are always small and only sell what they the bosses think the towns folk would need.
BI believe there is bore water in Biloela as in many towns within Australia.

  10. Sad that there is lack of water. Here in Finland we have had lot of rain, and in some places there is too much of water.

    1. Can understand and relate to too much water in some places and not enough in others - Australia has floods some years in certain areas, other years, years of drought.

    1. We both felt we were at home there and it was warmer too which helps when we like a bit of warmth.

  12. I helped open the Biloela annual show on the Friday, and then the rodeo on the Saturday night back in 1987. It was when I was managing the resort on Hinchinbrook Island. And the company/owner of the resort had donated a fair bit of money to the area after the Moura mine disaster in 1986.

    1. There is so much of Australia where you can't get water at all Baili..
The caravan parks provide washing machines, and all kinds of things.
