The Waterfront, Cairns

The Esplanade in Cairns is rather lovely except when the tide is out, then it's not the best.

Fortunately we chose the correct week to take a stroll where the 'free' pool is because after our walk the next day the pool was closed for repairs and maintenance for about 3 weeks.  A good time to do repairs in the winter.

A bit dark but you get the idea!

  2. The temperature must be warm, to be the pool with so much atmosphere.

    1. It was warm and is warm in the winter in Cairns - it's in the tropics so always warm - just two season, wet and dry, wet being in the summer and dry in the winter.

  4. The pool looks huge. I like the water jet and the fish sculptures, and it is good to have the poles in the water to break the expanse of water.

    1. The area of the pool is vast and I don't know where everyone parks their vehicles either! There are places but a good walk away.

  7. Lovely to see a pool in use in the winter and such a pretty pool too.
I'd like a dip in a pool right now, but it's far too hot to step outside to get to one.

    1. Oh yes, it's a bit hot here too but I know it's certainly been a scorcher over your way and it's still continuing.

  12. The fish are wonderful. I'm wondering if they spray water. It looks as if they might!

  13. I recall enormous tides in Cairns - the sea seemed to go back for 100s of metres in low tide.

  14. Lots of water around up that way at present...particularly around Innisfail, Silkwood - all through the Johnstone Shire.
