Great Stupa, Victoria. Australia.

The Great Stupa will be the largest Buddhist Monument constructed in the Western World when finished. It will be the final home for the largest gem quality Jade Buddah in the World.
This building is not far from Bendigo in the State of Victoria.

We came across the sign at Myers Flats as we were driving through on our first day travelling and headed to see what it was.

Had breakfast at Kyneton, Victoria instead of having it on the ship, not enough time!
This stop over was most welcome as it was a chance to have a good walk around.
Horse races are held at Kyneton - they are racing at Kyneton!  So the commentator says..

These first 4 photos were taken with my phone camera.

The Great Stupa

Starving we were, so this small cafe was very welcome on the cold, foggy, wet morning after driving off the boat some distance.  Of course a wrong turn was taken just out of Melbourne and somehow we ended up behind Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne.  However the mistake was soon rectified and off we went.

To the left which we can't see was a big fire that helped to keep us warm.

Once a Bank, now flats.

The post Office.

Not much happening here.

  4. The temple? will be amazing when it is completed. I am trying to think if I have been to Kyneton as it looks familiar but then so many country towns look like this.

    1. I don't know if it's a temple...i didn't see when i researched it, could have missed it.
You are right, many towns look similar because they were probably all inhabited about the same time...

  9. I wonder how different Kyneton is now, from the sixties, when Aussie author Kerry Cue lived there and her father was the Police Sergeant.
The Great Stupa is very, very white!
I like the old Kyneton buildings.

    2. Yes - Margaret.
All the Buddhist temples world wide have replicas of the Golden Buddha in the Wat Traimit Temple near the Royal Palaces in Bangkok.
This Wat in BKK is open at times for tourists but I guess now with the security problems - World Wide - standing in a queue to be checked would be rather tiresome.
Such a pity as the Golden Buddha is really something to see.
      Cheers

    3. The Gold Buddha must be wonderful to see. I expect you have viewed.
Security these days must be near enough a nightmare there..the queues forever long at busy times!

    4. Yes - it is breathtakingly magnificent.
Yes with the security upgrade now - queues would be tiresome, but
that in this day and age is now the "NORM".

  13. I'm confused....not an uncommon occurrence for me, I know...but I'm sure I called you "Janice" a couple of responses ago...because of the name on the photos. So please accept my apologies, Margaret. :)

    1. :) I tend to confuse some people Lee..
Yes, you did call me Janice, that is ok...you see that's my name and Margaret is my second name which I'm mostly known by.
I now put Janice on my photos due to various people buying my photos, a few travel websites link to my posts, some government bodies buy some of my photos for tourism.

I originally I had 'whiteangel' and when I discovered the links I decided that, that name wasn't appropriate. Once on the internet you never used your own name - these days one does.
I hope that helps with my name.
