Happy Easter 2015

Have a lovely Easter to each and everyone who passes my way and for those that don't, may they also have a great Easter remembering what Easter is about - I always remember the Religious side, unfortunately there are those that don't.

Here in Australia and on the island where I live many people go away to have a holiday, this being called Easter Holidays.  Good Friday is the only day all the shops are shut, but I expect I could find 'one or two' open.

Two of our grandchildren have birthdays this Easter, one on Saturday, the other on Sunday...new age will be 7 and 3 years of age.  Growing up fast.

I like making graphics when I get time and I made this one before the painting commenced.

I have two first names as you might know.  I changed to my middle name when I was 7 years old. All my cousins call me by my first name, and the remainder call me by my second first name.....just thought I would mention that as it's confusing for some at times, but not for me.  I answer to both :)

  2. Happy Easter to you and the family.
Ungodly hour here for me to be up but it is pouring rain so loudly that I decided to get up - 11.30 pm.
Feels like that the 40 days and nights of rain has commenced - ha ha. I am totally sick to death of it.
To my absolute surprise here I found out that the supermarkets will be open on Good Friday at 9.00 am
and close at 5.00 pm!!! I never in my wildest dreams thought that this would EVER happen!!!! At least the hotels are still observant, even if the clubs are not.
Weather and flooded rail tunnels from this never ending rain, may stop my attendance at St.Stephens Cathedral for the Good Friday service. The choir on this day are at their absolute best and the Cathedral is packed like sardines in a tin - incredible the number of young people in attendance. Last year I had a young backpacker couple from Munich (Munchen for your German readers!) on one side of me and on the other side a honeymoon couple from New York. We had a geography and travel discussion when not trying to be solemn. I am sure the good Lord would have had a giggle!!! ( Well I hope so???)
Cheers and it has ceased pouring - thank God now I can sleep.

    1. Oh gosh, you have had a lots of rain, but then that's expected up your way. Always floods with lots of rain, having been up your way in summer, have seen it for myself.
You must go to bed early, I was up until 12.30am.
Good grief, it's getting worse for shops on Good Friday - such a shame as our culture was to have Good Friday as a total day off and to remember why we are here etc.

    1. Good heavens Gosia! I would have thought for sure that in Catholic Poland after the
Soviet dominated era that Good Friday would have been reserved for church services
      and not a working day.
Almost unbelievable to read your comment! I am completely gobsmacked with surprise.
      Cheers

    2. Happy Easter Gosia...and thank you.
My, that is very different from down here as when the shops are open and closed. Has it always been like that, I wonder!

  4. Happy Easter to you and your family, as well as happy birthday to the little ones.
In the US, shops used to be closed Good Friday afternoon (and people were excused from work to attend Good Friday church services) and all day Easter Sunday. Not anymore. They are open the usual hours every day. I think Christmas Day is the only day of the year many are closed.

  8. Good news!
Creed has triumphed over Corporate Greed.
After the shock of that Woolworths sign in the CBD yesterday on being
open on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I noticed at the Nundah W'worths
when I went to get my bread at the next door bakery - GREAT BREAD!
That this W/worths was closed on the two days.
So as I then go to the CBD to meet up with some mates, I went to the CBD
W'worths - new opening times???? Closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
So I asked the obnoxious supervisor, the pleasant ones not being there, why was
the sign yesterday stating open. In her most "imperious" manner, I was told a junior
made a mistake with the opening hour sign! Then she haughtingly marched off!
Oh God - blame a junior, eh?
I wouldn't employ this so-called supervisor in the words of the US General George Patton, " to shovel shit in the swamps of Louisiana".
Anyhow the Creed beat the Greed - big tick, eh?
    Cheers

    1. That's interesting Colin. Common sense has prevailed. I doubt it was the junior who made the mistake.
