On top of Mt. Wellington, Tasmania, Australia

It's always a nice feeling to be on top of a mountain, and Mt. Wellington is in southern area of Tasmania  with Hobart our Capital city at the foot of it's hills.
The mountain can be seen from many points and areas around Hobart.  I was very lucky to be up there on such a clear day to capture these photos.

Mt. Wellington is 1,271m high was first climb in 1798.

  1. Janice, what an incredible view. I've never been to Tazmania, so it's fun to see your pictures.

    1. Well it's good to know you like seeing my photos. I too like seeing other peoples, so I know what their country from their point of view is like. It's a great view up there on a clear day.

    1. That's pleasing the print is clearer than before. It's good you told me, thanks Rosemary.
We drove up, you can walk up of course but it would take a long time, as you would appreciated it's steep and windy road. My husband can't walk far, and when he does walk it has to be flat without any pebbles etc. He has Chronic Arthritis or two types, had for many years now, onset was sudden at the time. To look at him and to see him walk you wouldn't think anything was wrong :)
      Regards,
Margaret or Janice - as I answer to both :)

  5. I've seen photos of the mount when it was on fire and when covered in snow but these are the first I've seen from the top. What brilliant views.

  6. Great views! Makes Hobart and the Derwent river look so small. The history lesson is good - Mt.Wellington climbed in 1798!!! - only 10 years after we were officially colonised in Sydney!!!
Who climbed it - was it the Bass and Flinders expedition?
Most of the views shown of Hobart, the Derwent and Mt.Wellington is around the finish of the "Sydney/Hobart" and looking up to the peak of Mt.Wellington! Your photos put a totally different
aspect to everything - well done.
    Cheers
