A wet Autumn Day in North Western Tasmania.

We went to Devonport yesterday and it rained all the way and most of the way home., it's welcome, the rain.

Had lunch at an Eatery across from the Mersey River, a great meal and even sweets, oh I'm naughty....but I won't go into that.

My dads Plaque was being put in place when we arrived at the cemetery at long last. First the death date was incorrect, then a word was spelt incorrectly but all fixed now. His is a leaf of a page that is now placed beside my mums.  So that is final and over and done with.  The plaques are made in Melbourne.

Not far from Devonport we stopped for a rest as I saw a Horse Chestnut tree was changing it's colour.  It was raining so I didn't get out of the vehicle.
Here in Tasmania there is not a lot autumn colour in our trees.

Opposite to where we had lunch - The Spirit of Tasmania is docked and will turn around in the river to sail to Melbourne in the evening.

Just up the road is Neptune where the Mersey River meets Bass Strait.

  1. I still find it strange even after following blogs for nearly four years to see your hemisphere heading off into autumn as we head into spring.

  5. Lovely pictures. The rain makes colors so vibrant. Seems so strange to see you say autumn, when we are so anticipating spring after a long winter.

    1. Thanks. A different view in the rain. I am now used to the Northern Hemisphere being opposite to us..

  6. Ungodly hour - 3.00 am! Serves me right for going to bed so early!
You please keep your rain down there - BNE has had ample amounts this
summer and early Autumn - there is so much moisture in the ground, that
when sunny - the humidity sky rockets!
I find it so funny that the line around planet Earth called the Equator can cause
so much confusion with those in the Northern Hemisphere. I have yet to meet an
Aussie who doesn't know that Autumn here is Spring in the northern Hemisphere,
like Winter here - summer there!
I think it is because we are such well known travellers????

Now to try to get back to sleep - eerily quiet - you can darn near hear the ants marching around
down on the lawns - ha ha!
    Cheers

    1. Good grief you were up very early....yes, it may have something to do with us being travellers as in knowing the opposites of seasons.

  8. Your trip was pretty, even in the rain. And I'm glad you got some dessert with your lunch. You know -- "life is uncertain. Eat dessert first!"

  10. I'm sure that you could do with the rain, and although I'm sorry that you experienced it on your day out, I'm rather pleased as it really means that spring is here for us!
