Ulverstone, Tasmania, Australia.

Ulverstone is a major town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia on the mouth of the Leven River, on Bass Strait. It is on the Bass Highway, 21 kilometres (13 mi) west of Devonport and 12 kilometres (7 mi) east of Penguin.

The town area was first settled by Europeans in 1848, when Andrew Risby, his wife Louisa and their five young children arrived to settle and develop farmland from what was mostly a thickly forested wilderness.

The town has a good shopping centre plus a nice beach.

My husband and I took a rest from cleaning the cupboards out at my late dads house driving to Ulverstone.

I took a few photos and have posted normal and HDR. Interesting the transformation.

  1. Hello,

Ulverstone looks to be just the kind of place where we would choose to escape from the daily round and find some rest and relaxation. The beach looks wonderful and the town seems to have some interesting architecture. A perfect place to unwind!

  2. I think is very nice city but I can't believe it is . Comparing to your country Europe is very old continent. And Europeans were very curios and aggressive and discovered so many nice places. Do your ancestors come from Europe ., too?

    1. My ancestors came to Tasmania as free settlers in the mid 1800's.

  3. It is interesting to compare the photos done in a different format - you are wise to keep giving yourselves a break from the chores of cleaning and clearing your father's home - it can be a soul destroying task.

    1. Cleaning out the cupboards is upsetting, especially some particular ones. Each week my husband and I stay there and do some work, then come home again. It gives the family of 5 staying with us a break, plus gives us a break.
